so just to be clear, you guys are suggesting that she start dating guys based on the assumption that they will someday change?

I've heard that online dating profiles are just a representation of how someone wants to be perceived, and don't necessarily represent the actual beliefs they hold. With kids, they may be open to a discussion and you wouldn't know their true feelings because you filtered them out.

Well yeah of course it is how someone wants to be perceived. These guys chose the label "man who does not want children" knowingly, to indicate that preference to potential mates. I'm cynical enough as is, I'd rather not assume everything someone selects is false. If they aren't sure, then just choose "not sure" for that or leave it blank. :noidea:

even if it's an assumption that they MIGHT change isn't that the sort of thing that is just setting you up for disappointment a year from now when they're all like "i told you in my okcupid profile that i didn't want kids why are you trying to change me".

I just bought my first pair of rain boots. They are Crocs. Didn't ever expect to have Crocs but they are comfy! Hopefully not as judged as the crocs I think of, with the holes and the clog and the strap.

I have come around on Crocs in my old age. I still don't want to wear the traditional kind myself, but they are seriously the best toddler shoes ever. They stay on, are easy to clean, lightweight, etc. It's becoming an issue now because the Bug only wants to wear Crocs and we're trying to get her to start wearing sneakers and other more appropriate shoes for colder weather (she wore non-Crocs last year fine, but it's been a summer of pretty much all Crocs all the time).

That said, I LOVE my "dressy" Crocs and wear them almost every day myself. I figure they're nicer than flip flops, but more comfortable than other dress shoes (and my office is pretty laid back).

LOL yeah changing someone is the last thing I want to do and it's definitely bad form to assume someone will bend on an important life decision like that.

they look like jellies!

It's a conundrum. You don't date somebody with hopes they'll change, but every married guy I know has changed significantly compared to his single days.

yo townie, you got any recs for places that suburban white people can go listen to some jazz musics in philly? might head down with the wife for her Bday for a night.

Where did you find them? I'm thinking I need to procure some rain boots prior to Saturday's game in the monsoon.

Crossfit is actually a good place to meet people

My box is 70% women though, I think DG3 said it was more even in WS

Not surprising, it seems like everything in Winston is 70% women. A new guy without a wedding ring showed up to my run group yesterday, and even though he looks approx 25 and was wearing a Carolina shirt, I made sure to chat him up. It's usually just a lot of women and married guys.

Winston sounds like the epicenter of the dating apocalypse.

RTQ is right: you can pretty much figure out about 80% of a person from an online dating profile.

Move to Durham. It's way cooler than Winston.

I'm sure there are plenty of people here just tearing it up though. I can also make almost anything sound awful.

Arent there tons of soon med students in town?

I don't know what the "soon" is supposed to be but yes there are med students and whatnot. Most come right out of college so they are like 22-26 and also terrible hours. I guess there's future doctor money upside but not sure it's worth current student downside. Hoping to see if a new friend (female) from the running club who just moved here for her fellowship knows any single gents.

Definitely agree with this. Far more well educated people in their late 20s, early 30s as well.
