I just don't know what we should expect at this point. I wish we got Harry and based on our past we should be able to land a player like him once in a while but this program was driven into the ground. I don't know how Baylor recovered from one player murdering another but we need to figure this out.
 
Don't start the 2017 recruiting thread until like April.

Yeah, I mean in hoops when you're taking 3 or 4 players, one player can either make the class a dud or a homerun and you have to spend a year and half trying to get the player to make it a home run. One strike and you're out unfortunately.

Soooooo, is 2016 done? Bruno Fernando? Harry Froling? Anyone else still plausible as a target, if those even are? Been so long since other guys have been discussed, I don't remember where things stood with anyone. Did we cool off on everyone as part of a (right or wrong) 100% all in on Giles push?
 
All the stars were aligned. I got duped. Here to own my completely wrong gut/guess.

Obviously Wellman. Without Wellman tanking the program, Giles would be a Deacon. The fact that the recruitment was even close given where our program is would seem to indicate that Harry would have definitely been a Deacon is the Deacs were a competitive team.
 
Personally, I think the problem is higher than Wellman. We seem to be operating under different self-imposed restrictions than we were when Hearn was the President.

At this point I don't know if adding anyone to an already sub-par class is a good idea. We maybe have one scholarship in 2017 if Rondale leaves. So any decent recruiting class doesn't come until 2018, which maybe makes us okay by 2019? That is the most depressing part of this whole thing. Our only real hope is that some of these freshman are substantially better than anyone thinks. Otherwise, we're fighting for NIT berths for the next 4 years.

Yeah, I agree, I think competitiveness of Wake's money sports isn't even a blip on Hatch's radar or priorities at Wake. Notre Dame is in the top 10, so he's good when it comes to sports.
