YO SAY HEY I just started Fargo s2 last night. Did you say that it's completely separate from s1? I want to eventually watch s1 but it's not streaming anywhere I have a sub. I dug the feel of the first ep.

it's sort of a prequel. the main character in S2 is a fringe character in S1, but he tells a story about crazy shit, so now S2 is showing the crazy shit.

I have the worst book memory, so frequently if I wait long enough after reading something, I can read it again and enjoy it a second time. Although some books like Enders Game and the HP series I've read multiple times (and seen movies in the case of HP), so they're pretty ingrained now. Not that I wouldn't read them all again...

Yo holmes. I'm watching season 2 and never saw season 1. They say that the story is totally separate but a character or two appear in each season. Season 2 takes place many years before season 1.

I have the itch to reread Harry Potter at least once every six months or so.

Those books came out during my formative years - I attended book releases, movie releases, hell...I had a HP themed birthday in my mid-20s (complete with house drinking games). Our birth announcements referenced the Squirrel being muggle born.

It's a combination of growing up with the series and the amazing story that have left an indelible mark.

I'm slowly watching 30 Rock for the first time and one of my friends has been repeatedly telling me how jealous he is.

I'll watch The Wire someday but the way people talk about it, my expectations are sky-high. Like it has to be life changing and possibly cause me to never watch TV ever again because nothing could possibly ever compare to the glory that is The Wire. So I expect to be let down.

Don't watch the Wire.

I can't think of any books that had an impact like the HP books had. Seems like Judy Blum was a big deal cause she wrote about periods and stuff but that was more for girls. Nope, nothing ubiquitous like HP.

The difference in writing style/quality between the first book and the last is pretty significant IMO

well if I can't read the first then I'll never read the last!

Lord of the Rings

I don't know any anybody in my generation could have possibly gone without reading Harry Potter. It was, like, ubiquitous.

Oh man, our organization officially closed on the asset purchase agreement yesterday, so I guess this is really happening! Starting the new gig three weeks from yesterday :willynilly:

we just moved to our new office as part of our acquisition last week-- reeeeal weird. interviewing for a new position within the company though, so that'd be a nice perk if I get the job!

You're incorrigible, RTQ. What a downer it is to be you. Fuck.

Obviously I'm exaggerating in terms of never wanting to watch TV again, but people say it's the best show of all time so whenever I watch it, I'll go into it expecting to be blown away. I am very susceptible to hype.
