Now that ACC season has begun, I'm interested to see how people grade our players individually on offense and defense.

Player - Offense/Defense
Crawford - B+/B-
Miller-McIntyre - C/B+
Wilbekin - B-/C-
Hudson - B-/B
Watson - C-/B+
McClinton - D/D
Thomas - A/A-
Mitoglou - B+/C-
Collins - A-/C+
Moore - B-/C

VanHorn - B+/B+
McGregor - C+/D
O'Brien - C/D

Would give CMM an incomplete right now. He has not rounded into form yet.

Player - Offense/Defense
Crawford - B+/B
Miller-McIntyre - (not healthy but currently C-/C)
Wilbekin - B/C
Hudson - B-/B
Watson - C-/A-
McClinton - C/D
Thomas - A/A-
Mitoglou - B+/D
Collins - B+/B-
Moore - C/B-

Tough to get a good read on everyone individually but here are my best picks. It's hard to compare guys like Mitch who do what they're told in the offense but their role isn't huge usage-wise v. guys like Devin and Dinos.

Dinos is one of the worst defenders I've ever seen at Wake.

Our 1 on 1 defense across the board has struggled, but we've made great strides in our team defense every week.

And for as bad as Dinos started, I think he has improved a lot on the defensive end. He's mostly struggling with the size and strength of guys on the box right now, but at least his rotations look WAY better than they did in say the Indiana game.

Hudson and McClinton still look lost as far as team defense goes, but are pretty solid on the ball guys.

I don't think it's a coincidence that our team defense started getting better as soon as Codi started playing. He's doing a much better job than Wilbekin or Crawford (at this point) of preventing penetration from the top of the key, which naturally stresses the rest of the defense into making perfect rotations. Rotations that we were completely botching in the beginning of the year, but have looked much better recently.

I'll eat some crow and say that Watson contributed a lot more yesterday than I really ever thought we'd see him chip in. He is very good defensively but seems to be pretty limited on the offensive end (either by coaching design or by lack of involvement up to this point).

We all should eat crow on Watson. He's a valuable 8th man in the rotation and deserved to be on the floor in crunch time last night.

Can you imagine what this team would be if Dinos could play even mediocre D?

^^ national champs.

wilbekin and yung crab with Bs on offense?

Wilbekin doesn't get used a lot but he's efficient when he's in - he just has a very low usage rate for someone seeing the number of minutes he is.

is his low usage rate because his offense doesnt deserve a B?

Interesting topic.

He's 4/11 from within the arc and 1/7 beyond this season. Are you referring to something other than shooting/scoring? A grade of C seems correct for his offensive prowess at least.

There are lots of posters I want to hear from, especially Racer and DC.

I don't know if I understand the question, but I don't think I agree with the premise of your question as I do understand it. His role in the offense is to take care of the ball and get open looks. He's been doing a pretty good job of both and has just been missing some of his open looks which I think will always be up and down as he's primarily an outside threat.

I wasn't talk about his shooting at all. He's a solid 8th man and capable of being the guy playing the 5th best on the roster in any given game.
