Season long College football thread

SEC wins a record 9 games in the bowl season--not bad for a 'down year', huh! Plus of course--The Natty Title as Dabo would have called it.

"“When Alabama lost to Ole Miss in September, the Crimson Tide’s dynasty was supposedly in shambles. By Week 11, there were only two SEC teams in the College Football Playoff rankings. Alabama finished the season as the only team in the conference with fewer than three losses, and as the SEC’s top teams beat each other up in league play, the Big Ten became the new popular choice as the “best conference in college football.”

Despite all that, the SEC just set an NCAA record with nine bowl wins in 11 post-season games. Alabama (2), Georgia, Tennessee, LSU, Auburn, Mississippi State, Ole Miss and Arkansas all won their bowl games by a combined score of 383-171. Florida’s blowout loss to Michigan and Texas A&M’s 27-21 loss to Louisville are the only blemishes on the SEC’s record in bowl play.

Ohio State finished the season looking like a Playoff-worthy team, but the Big Ten went 5-5 overall in bowls. The Pac-12, led by Stanford’s Rose Bowl win, went 6-3, the ACC was 4-6, and the Big 12 was 3-4.”

The ACC is destined to be the richest conference in America. Nothing else matters. Just count the televisions.

muschamp can't coach offense, though

But he can coach & recruit excellent defense. And by getting Roper in as co-offensive coordinator along with McLendon from UGa who came off the interim title at UGa and the Taxslayer bowl win over Penn St, that helps with that. He also brings in Travaris Robinson, who is regarded as one of the top recruiters in the country as a top defensive assistant, keep Shawn Elliott on his staff, just like Clawson did with Belin, Jackson & Faircloth. And he hired Bobby Bentley as running backs coach, a top name in SC high school football, who was also Marcus Lattimore's high school football coach. [along with Lattimore on the football staff] I think everything will be fine in SC in due time.

Mack, you better count the televisions in the Big East then. Far more reason why Rutgers and Maryland left their conferences to join the Big 10. Far more reasons why ESPN does not want to do business with the ACC on a network than you can imagine. Not enough butts in chairs tuning into those imaginary TV's you think are watching the ACC broadcasts.

Mark Ingram, while not tall was still considered a pretty big running back, very thick and strong. Standing beside Derrick Henry though , how you'd like to try to tackle that?:moose:

Those guys were pretty much NFL locks before they committed to Alabama. They committed to Alabama to win championships. That's part of why Travis Henry decommitted from Georgia. Todd Gurley being another part.

Except for Ingram.

Bama way too high. After juniors announce, they're going to have about 2 starters return on defense.

I want to say that's identical numbers to what they returned this year. Besides, they rotate a ton - it's not like the starters are playing 90% of the snaps, the "back-ups" play almost as much.

Same goes for Ohio State. I think they have six returning starters right now between O & D combined
