ABCD Mafia - CIVS WIN

Part of the reason for the change was that the past few games I was told that I came across as special/mafia, when I was not. I went the disinterested civ route, and it obviously backfired.

disinterested civ is not a strategy, it's a bad form of play.

Yeah, I mean I understand why you were trying to make a change, but a subtle one probably would have gone further than that.

Also - ***ATTENTION*** dv7

Gouda's Day 1 soft claim play was poetry gone wrong. He soft claims as a civ to draw a hit. But what happens? Mafia thinks protection is one gouda so they hit Eagles the BG. Could have been really bad for civs. Poetry, don't do it.

While I agree, its been an excuse used quite a bit the past few games here that turned people off of someone. My hope was if I could skate under the radar the first few days, I would then be more active and hopefully give off less of a read.

Nah - you can hold for a few minutes, but once everyone has posted, you should reveal.

Normally I'd agree

But you all are still not understanding that you could have gleaned literally nothing from my reveal even when rommy came back ninja

So it was useless

@rsf fallout game Monday?

My boss is going to be in town early next week (he's located in WI, and I'm the only Boston employee on his team; I've never met him), and I don't know how much time I'll have to run a game.

Might have to postpone it for the following week :/

I loved dv7s game.

Guys I'm the cop, timdunk is mafia.
Then he kills timdunk at night showing he's not really mafia.
Claims he tried to timdunk timdunk and is actually the watcher.

Well played sir. You are my mvp.

Broheim, let everyone else decide what is useless - and it doesn't matter, no extra info is useless.

It's about that time anyway that I may break out my annual GoT game. Run one every late winter / early spring since s3. But from my phone I don't know that I can do it successfully without a co-mod. Vote counts too hard to track from my phone with 22+ people. So in case anyone is excited to help that'd be kewl.

Let's keep it basic for a few more. This was a good building game.

I'm fine with that along with rsf's RL shit. I'm gonna be super hit or miss over the weekend. I'd prefer it to start Sunday night or Monday but that's just me.

We need to seriously consider a Ph game modification. He's kinda a game ruiner at this point.

He posts once a round, right at the deadline, with a huge vote. Whether he is civ or mafia. And it's soul-crushing as a civ.

I dont agree, plenty of players moved past day one kill, like Jmanslow, remember how bad he was for awhile? I dont think Ph has played that bad the past few games, but he gets no credit on here.

I'd help and watch teh muppets

Agreed, nothing should start before Sunday night / monday morning.

So, TSY made a play there that was fucking epic. I want you to understand this.

His day 1 was entirely excusable. It's perfectly fine to come in and drop a vote and not do much else.

His day 2 play was the real risk and just fucking amazing play. He had ONE post with ONE vote. That one vote was for mafia - every single mafia player in chat was like, "OMG, TSY = COP." There's literally no other conclusion that you can pull out of that when you know DV7's alignment. In a game with 15+ players, that's just a risk you can't take.

Without literally the entire mafia jumping down TSY's throat in the round that he was lynched, TSY doesn't go there. TSY's lynch had to be manufactured by the mafia in order to avoid having to hit him at night.

What did that do?

It gave enormous information when DV7 turned up bad. Folks could go back to that round, look at the TSY vote, and read the reactions to it. They were DAMNING.

All at literally zero cost to the civs - TSY was vanilla. He forced enormous plays by the mafia players, to their detriment. If TSY had hit a civ with his lone vote? Well, then that gets to be used as street cred for the person he voted for - because if TSY isn't hit at night, then the mafia just thinks, "oh, well, TSY just shooting in the dark. He can't be cop, because he wouldn't tag an goodguy investigation like that."

imo, it was the best play of the game and TSY played civ MVP.

Interesting take. I'll have to go back when I have some time and read the comments again.

Would it help if we self policed the counts like we did in the doofi game?

Why did you kill knight in OT dv7?

1) Knight told me to
2) I saw the switch to me from timdunk coming and got ahead of it
3) I'm dumb

Ok, time for another "WELL IN MY DAY" question.

Is it standard practice now that anyone can switch in OT whether they are involved in the tie or not?

When I run a game this summer I'm going to have a much different OT. Kind of like a run-off election.

Did mafia use the strongdong hit on eagles night 1?

Due to my terrible play d1, I did all hits in order to save those powers for later. Once BG got hit, we lost the utility of Knights massive dong.

No. That is not what tsy was going for.

It was a great play. But was it purposeful? Did tsy just become super Mafia?

Explain to me how you would have used it in day to discern anything other than shot clouding thread?
