Presumably OFFICAL 2015/16 Premier League - Leicester CHAMPS. Best Sports Story Ever

Danny Welbeck's knee has exploded so he couldn't be in the Euros this summer.

Jack Butland is also hurt

Whelp, that's why I'm not England's manager.

GK: Hart, Forster, Heaton
Outside backs: Clyne, Walker, Rose, Cresswell
Center backs: Smalling, Cahill, Stones, Jagielka
Center midfielders: Carrick, Dier, Milner, Drinkwater, Barkley
Attacking mids/wingers: Sterling, Lallana, Alli
Forwards: Vardy, Kane, Sturridge, Rooney

I don't need 26.

Best XI:

Hart
Clyne - Smalling - Cahill - Rose
----------- Dier ------------------
-------- Milner ----------------
Alli ----------- Barkley ----- Sterling
------------ Kane ----------------

Back 4 has obvious replacements. Carrick replacement for Dier at DM. Drinkwater for Milner. Lallana could play either wide AM spot. Sturridge could go on at RW to cut in on left if chasing the game. Rooney could spell Barkley or Kane. Vardy could do Kane or a wide attacking mid spot if needed pace.

QF exit, here we come!

I like this. Not that different from mine, actually. And if I wasn't following the rules WFGolfer (and myself) put in place, my roster would look a lot like yours.

This is why I value your opinion (when West Ham players / the club) aren't involved. You fucking cray for them.

Mark Noble? Antonio a much better call. Same for Cresswell.

Noble just another in a long list of England's "meh" CMs. Not nearly dynamic enough to matter on international stage.

Honestly, I don't disagree with this in theory. Same with Scotty Parker. But in practice, Noble deserves a shot as much as, if not more than, the already tried and failed "meh" center midfielders in the current England set up.

And regarding the other two: Cresswell is not actually a very good defender, but he is one of the best in England going forward--wicked left foot shot and accurate crosses.

Antonio is just a beast. 70 yard runs with the ball, devastating headers, can shoot with both feet off the dribble. He's only played twenty-something games in the top flight, and most of those out of position -- he's been playing at RB, but he was a wide forward at Nottingham Forest. Watch for him to grow into the League and hopefully play most of next season as an attacking winger.

My English XI (which I don't really care about - but whatever):

Walker - Smalling - Cahill - Rose
---------- Dier - Milner -----------
Vardy ------- Alli -------- Sterling
------------- Kane ----------------

I think Alli has to play in the hole. It's his best position, and his combination with Kane is just special - they play off each other so well. It would be a waste of England's most dynamic midfielder to have him shunted out wide, and I don't think he and Barkley can play together (too open). Milner is just average, but all he has to do here is work hard and move the ball a bit.

The hardest spot was right back. Walker is a flawed player, but I want Vardy on the pitch and that means he'll start wide and drift centrally (with Kane drifting wide regularly as he is wont to do) and that means the RB has to be someone with a monstrous engine who can get up and down and provide width as well as help out the slow center backs which are the weakness of the team. Walker is the only athlete England has that can fill that role. He's also the one most prone to kicking someone on the ground and getting a red card or passing the ball square across the back brainlessly and giving away a killer goal. Like I said, the toughest call - but if I wanted Vardy on the pitch, I had to pick Walker I feel.

Mostly agree. I prefer Clyne to Walker but admit it's a close call. I also don't think Roy will or should use Milner centrally. My guess is he goes with either Wilshere or Henderson next to Dier if either one of them is fit enough. I don't think Roy has used Vardy out wide so I wouldn't be shocked if Lallana slots into that spot, although Vardy's threat on the counter attack fits really well with the way England is likely to play.

I just can't stop chuckling about Arsenal finishing ahead of Tottenham, again.

WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!

XI: De Gea, Valencia, Smalling, Blind, B-Jackson, Carrick, Rooney, Mata, Lingard, Martial, Rashford

DV7,

A friend of mine who is a big United fan wrote me this email earlier today. Interested in what you think. I think he's a bit too optimistic about United's current roster:

The funny thing (or maybe it is my rose-colored glasses) is that I don’t think United are too far away personnel-wise (in terms of numbers. Cost is another matter). A central defender is a must (maybe two). With the young guys, I don’t think fullback is as big of a need. A playmaking midfielder (either a true #10 or a deeper playmaker with some shuttlers/ball winners in front of him) and at least 1 winger.

But, a lineup of:

De Gea
Valencia – Smalling – CB – Shaw
Blind – Schneiderlin
Winger -- #10 – Martial
Rashford

Starts to look pretty good. Yes, that lineup omits Rooney (who needs to be put to MLS pasture), Carrick and Mata. Yes, you probably don’t want to play Schneiderlin and Blind together because of the lack of pace. And yes, Rashford and Martial cannot play every single game (so we’ll need some attacking depth)

But in terms of #s of players, you’re really only 3-4 away from having a solid squad. Darmian, Fosu-Mensah and Borthwick-Jackson provide depth at fullback. Phil Jones can rotate in at center back. Lingard can play any of the midfield positions. Fellaini has a role.

The biggest thing is that Woodward has to swallow his pride, which may be easier said than done.

I am forced to assume that anybody that relies on Tony V as first choice RB doesn't watch the games.

He thinks Valencia should be replaced but that it's low priority relative to center back, central midfield, striker and winger.

Hull's 3-0 first leg playoff lead after the away leg down to 3-2 at the half vs. Dahby, would be an all-time chokejob if they let this slip

The Man United game tomorrow is HUGE. It will decide 4-6 place in our 21-person fantasy league. ONW and Scott, you going DOWN.

ONW has Smalling
Weak Blatters has Captained Rooney
Old Millhillians have Martial

Whelp, a goal and an assist for Rooney and a shutout for Man United mean I'm fucked. Thanks for nothing Bournemouth and (almost nothing) Martial.
