Shooting at an Orlando Gay Night Club

but he had no history of mental health treatment, was never found incompetent or involuntarily committed, etc. etc. There was zero official record of his derangement. There are literally millions of people more or less like Mateen in this country who are intolerant wife-beating assholes that could be considered deranged, and there is no way to magically detect these people and put them on a no-guns list.

So, now philosophy is also the problem? Maybe you should stick to traveling on all fours.

i actually said that philosophy and religion are not the problem when it comes to trying to get humans to relate to one another

Hatred of homosexuals
Steadfast adherence to a extreme religious viewpoint (possibly?)
The cause behind his domestic violence

He had a lot going on mentally that would cause many psychologists and psychiatrists to consider him deranged.

Try radical Islam. It's OK to say it. And not possibly but definitely. When you are talking around a major problem, it becomes impossible to think clearly.

Not using a specific term does not equal not talking about the problem. It's RW brainwashing to make others think it does.

FIFY.

Also, what does a poster on a message board saying "Radical Islam" have to do with solving the problem?

Statements like this are just non-starters in conversations. Take your bullshit Trump-esque talking points and get the hell out of here with them if you want to engage in serious discussion.

ETA: I know you aren't voting for Trump (or I believe you have said you aren't), but stop with the "saying Radical Islam will make everything better". Nobody gives a flying fuck about saying that word.

Is that bringing people back from the dead? Is that fixing the problem? Is that going to help out in any way at all?

I mean if she actually helped him by driving him to buy the gun etc. while knowing what he was doing, then she is screwed. And rightfully so

Agree, but unless she has names and evidence of ISIS handlers who trained him and ordered the massacre (highly unlikely), she's hosed. A dutiful wife who helped her deeply closeted hubby massacre dozens has zero leverage.

Were you saying that humans need religion and philosophy in order to be empathetic toward each other and overcome our base selfish desires?

I'd like to reiterate how fucking stupid it is that 2&2 thinks it would be as difficult to ban recreational gun ownership as religion. Thst's Olympic gold level mental gymnastics right there.

More on the dude arrested in LA:

Indiana Man Arrested With Weapons in Santa Monica Called ‘Danger to Community,’ Flight Risk

In court documents released Tuesday, Santa Monica police Detective Derek Leone said Howell had a three-fifths-full 25-pound container of Shoc-Shot, a commercially available "binary explosive," on the front passenger floorboard.

"The amount of explosives in the container would have posted a grave danger to both persons and property had the explosives been detonated, either intentionally or accidentally, in a public space," Leone wrote in a statement supporting prosecutors' request to increase Howell's bail amount.

Howell had three rifles in the car, Leone wrote, including an Anderson Manufacturing AM-15 .223-caliber rifle loaded with a 30-round detachable magazine with a second 30-round magazine taped to it.

He also had a loaded .30-06-caliber bolt-action rifle and a .22-caliber Ruger semi-automatic rifle, according to the detective's statement.

The weapons were believed to have been purchased by Howell's father, the prosecutor said in court, citing a federal trace of the firearms.

Rounds from either of the first two rifles could have detonated the explosive, Leone said.

Howell also had a Taser, handcuffs, a buck knife, a security badge, a black hood, more ammunition and a 5-gallon container of gasoline.

Ok, so how about you tell us your grand plan for stopping American citizens with no prior crimes committed from shooting up night clubs, now that we've acknowledged, arguendo, that radical Islam is a problem

Because this is more similar to Sandy hook and the Charleston church shooting and the multitude of other mass shootings carried out on us soil by mentally ill people that have little to nothing to do with radical Islam

wow. is ISIS mentally ill?

Wrong again. I've never defended the current easy availability of guns in the US. Indeed, quite the opposite. Try keeping up, or stick to sports.

Keep calm there, serious discussant.

You have to clearly recognize the problem before you can do anything about it. Continuing to obfuscate about it will only make matters worse.

wow. is ISIS mentally ill?

my point is. There are mass murders and certainly in that context looking at gun control can be an important issue. However, the broader context here is a ideology that is mob ilizing thousands abroad and hundreds at home to commit murder in the name of it. we have doctors that can help identify mentally ill people but how can we fight this jihad being waged against us. WE can look at gun control but boston marathon was a bomb and 9/11 was a plane etc. This is why people on the right get irritated with the left.
