CBM: X-Men '97 finale; My Adventures with Superman S2 May 25; The Boys S4 June 13

I don't really pay much attention to DCEU upcoming projects. They have too much to sort out to get there.

A few random pieces of info:

There was some unwarranted hype this week about a report that Netflix was contacting people who worked on Young Justice about doing a Season 3. Ends up there's nothing to report except what's been reported. Season 3 is possible if people watch Young Justice on Netflix.

This is a trailer for the new DC animated show Justice League Action. It's an 11 min show that is mostly action, not narrative like Justice League (2 part episodes) or Justice League Unlimited (half hour eps). It does look like a huge upgrade from Teen Titans Go though. Kevin Conroy is the voice of Batman.

Not sure if this has been mentioned here. This is the trailer for the Russian answer to The Avengers franchise. It's interesting that two of the heroes are very similar to Russian characters from Marvel films, The Winter Soldier and Ivan Vanko from Iron Man 2.

Here's the trailer for the upcoming Justice League Dark animated feature. It's basically a collection of glowing eyes, bodies, symbols, and spheres because, well, magic.

That first trailer looks better than the concept art I first saw. I'll give this new show a shot simply based on the goodwill from the last JL animated series.

In JL Dark, here's a surprising amount of Batman for a magic focused team. Not surprising, of course, for someone trying to include their most bankable property.

"Where was Thor during the events of Civil War?" is a question. Here's the answer.

glad i quit watching gotham

“I don’t think superheroes work very well on TV," Heller said, this according to THR.com. "Probably because of the costume thing."

Heller didn’t stop there. The man behind the FOX show went on to explain his logic when he said, "TV is about real people and faces, and not so much about magic and the supernatural things…It’s a tricky combination, because you have to keep it real and unreal at the same time.”

It blows my mind how DC keeps hiring people who have such a disdain for superheroes.

Reminds me of David Goyer's comments about Martian Manhunter.

As far as that casting, it's not bad going forward and the potential actor is great. But just not for Justice League. I could see them setting up solo movie villains in Justice League though. That would be a shit show.

using the character is fine. the problem is they seem to be making movies based on knee jerk reactions.

superman sequel? let's make it bvs... but... let's not use more than 10% of the source materiel. ll is not enough of a bad guy. let's doomsday... and some other guy and then cut it and everything to make it confusing. lets use ww. oh and cram some sill introductions to the the jl.that deadpool was good. and funny. re-shoot and add jokes to ss. what? people like the trailer to ss? lets re-cut the movie with those people.

keep in mind Suicide Squad is pushing $640 million; maybe we're the assholes, here

And rising, it was still in 2nd place this weekend, though it was a "bleh" weekend for movies in general. Moviegoers certainly didn't "vote with their wallet" if they were dissatisfied with SS and I doubt any WB execs were stressed about that RT score when they walked into the Bentley dealership to spend their SS bonus check.

One sentiment I see hither and yon is "I no longer trust DC" with people saying they won't purchase tickets based on blind faith for future movies. I don't believe them, frankly. Obviously one should never form opinions on trends at large based on comment sections, but there do so seem to be very vocal supporters of these movies. Maybe enough to establish a loyal base that will see anything they put out.

Sorry if it makes me a deachead/dickhead? but I'll spill the beans on the JL character addition since I can't imagine any scenario where it could legitimately be kept secret from now to Nov 2017. I don't care how many characters are in the movie, there's definitely room for 1 more when that 1 is Slade. He's just the best. He absolutely has a place amongst the Justice League, he's defeated them all before. The Slade we saw on Arrow was severely nerfed, as he had to be because otherwise him vs the best efforts of Team Arrow would be a slaughter. Also, if I ever get to see a legit, bad-ass knock down drag out fight between him and Batman, I'd forgive all prior DC movie sins.

maybe i am. i have not seen it based on the nearly universal review point that it did not make a lot of sense.

just saying that post dark knight universe dc has over complicated every movie they have made. the tv they have made and kept simple has been good, at worst, solid comic book fare. the more they complicate their tv properties (i'm looking at you gotham, legends and later arrow) the more the results have been mixed at best.

the obvious contrast is marvel that built slowly to the point they can make civil war which is easily as complicated as anything dc has done but they built up enough back story that it could hit the ground running.

Supergirl stuntwoman beasts American Ninja Warrior.

The DCEU seems to have a weird obsession with teasing things at the end of the film, not even post-credits.

DC striking a deal with HBO is possibly the most interesting with the Batman plot a close second.

Agreed.

I didn't realize fans loved the Speed Force scenes in The Flash. It's not something I'd want to see a lot of on the big screen.

Speaking of HBO, I watched Watchmen for the first time a few nights ago. It was a huge missed opportunity not to put that on HBO or even AMC. That story is way too big for one movie.

More interesting DC TV news. Berlanti is part of a team working on a Black Lightning TV series.
