We need a little Northwestern game noise

Collins should have his way tonight on the offensive side assuming he is able to stay out of foul trouble.

Chrissie will target him. Look for Dinos and the backcourt to pick up the slack.

What's NW's zone/man mix been so far this season? Seems like teams like to throw out a zone at various times to disrupt our rhythm...

KP has "mostly man", which translates to "the team probably plays man defense on the vast majority of its possessions.

It uses an algorithm based on different defensive stats to figure out what a team runs:

– assist percentage (triple weight, higher means a more likely zone team)
– 3-point attempt percentage (triple weight, higher means a more likely zone team)
– free throw attempt percentage (double weight, higher means a more likely man team)
– turnover percentage (single weight, higher means a more likely man team)
– defensive rebounding percentage (variable weight depending on offensive rebounding percentage, higher means a more likely man team)

They don't really stick out in any of these categories (good or bad). They are above average in limiting assists on FGM, average on 3PA/FGA, average on FTA/FGA, below average on turnover percentage, and above average on defensive rebounding.

I think the game tonight comes down to defense, rebounding, and to a lesser extent our being able to get out on the break and dictate a faster tempo than NW wants to play.

Good three point shooting but not much down low... sounds like the description for Villanova. As I recall, our defense against three pointers consisted of only their missing wide open shots. Curious to see if there is any defensive improvement guarding the threes

Do you ever say anything positive about Wake?

Comparing NW to Nova shows a glaring lack of understanding college basketball talent. One is the reigning national champion and a blink from #1 right now versus a team who has never made the NCAAT and are getting ZERO votes for the Top 25.

Well, err, our only big man who could come close to checking Villanova's 6'7 big men was Collins.

Whenever we played Collins and Dinos or Moore and Dinos (or even Arians I believe a little at the 4) we got SMOKED.

No clue what the answer is, since Arians can't really defend at the 4 inside or outside. Maybe our main man G. McClinton at the 4 for defense? He is technically a stretch 4 minus the stretch.

I am really interested to see what we do to mitigate Law. Obviously Arians and Dinos aren't good options for defending him out on the perimeter. At 6-7 it will be a load for Keyshawn as well.

Guessing we rotate a bit, but I don't really want to see Collins out there floating and picking up fouls 20 feet away from the basket.

i'll sum up - on one hand wake could win but on the other wake could lose

Right, it's a toss-up game, so I reviewed both teams, stated the strengths and weaknesses for each, and picked Northwestern to win since they are at home.

Pretty standard preview there bud.

oh i didn't actually read read the preview uncle hedge

No sense in making predictions on one game sample sizes without a disclaimer of some sort.

I would rather provide statistical based analysis so the reader can be more informed about the game.

It's a toss-up game. Hope we win this one.
