So how exactly did this happen?

Okay, you go to a predominantly black church but you don't want to admit it. And you're suddenly overly sensitive. I already pointed out the whiteys on here who aren't pagans and go to church go to white churches. The only truly mixed race churches tend to be wacko Jim Jones type churches. It's no secret, people of a certain race tend to go to those kinds of churches on Sunday.

That's not exactly true.

My church is predominantly black. Usual attendance is 150-200 on Sundays. The pastor is black. His wife is Puerto Rican. Our church skews young with a lot of college students and recent grads. There's a large Caribbean influence with a good number of Haitians and Jamaicans. We have a few Latino members and some white people who usually people who come with their friends.

I think it's weird that you seem to make no connect between white people going to white churches and my church being predominantly black. My pastor is very committed to bringing in more white people but it's hard to grow churches anyway much less across racial lines. There are a few churches out there that are around 70-80% white. I've never been to any in which whites were a strong minority (20-40%).

Dude are you Rastafarian?

Yeah, but lots of those mixed race churches, and I'm not talking about a black couple at a white church, but truly mixed race, are often really wacky.

If by really wacky, you mean evangelical conservative, then yes, you are correct.

Ph, it's just about how people still, in this post-racial America, tend to self-segregate. I'm not saying you're racist. I pointed out white people do it, probably even to a greater extent. I'm not going back to look at what prompted this line of questions. Thanks for answering and sorry if I bummed you out by asking it.

It's often a weird mixture of ultra-conservative in many respects combined with a radical understanding of what the Bible compels them to do.

Except this is way different than the original question, which was "should people stick to their own kind?" Not "do people stick to their own kind?"

Well, is there necessarily something wrong with those who tend to be amongst those of a similar race/culture. I don't think so. There can be, if they start to view other races as being inferior. But I do see some of the more intolerant cultures as being inferior to the US. Whereas you folks tend to adhere to a sort of cultural relativism and are apologists for backwards attitudes. For example, there is a legitimate problem with Islam as it's understood by millions of Muslims. But when something happens what kind of bullshit do we hear from you folks: "Well what about Westboro Baptist church you racist!"

a question many rural americans and Evangelicals are silent on or they agree with on many levels

Interestingly, Islam is one of the most racially diverse religious groups in America.

You are repeating yourself.

I don't think so. For example, gender roles are strictly defined and something like homosexuality is clearly condemned. In that respect they're very conservative. But they're often far more charitable, at least as they see it, when it comes to helping the disadvantaged, drug addicts, the homeless, mentally ill, etc. They're willing to embrace and accept people that mainstream congregations often want nothing to deal with.

All of that is motivated from biblical literalism. The Bible is a very radical document that would not be one used to #MAGA.

It's a false equivalency. Of course Christianity can be, and often is, turned into a weapon to achieve political ends. That's problematic. But what Westboro Baptist Church does is a far cry from shooting up a club in Orlando.

You've got anger issues Townie. Why are so many of you Hillshills reminiscent of petulant children. I might need to turn to religion to find the strength in dealing with you folks.
dude you suck. you just make shit up opportunistically, trolled the entire election, and derail threads with bullshit. fuck off for good.

Honestly, whether BS4L is trolling or not is kind of irrelevant at this point. He has gotten pretty good at representing the alt-right and the rest of Trump's supporters. We can all disagree with those views, but they make up roughly 49% of the electorate. I didn't particularly appreciate the spamming of bogus articles, but if he simply continues to represent the Trumpian side of arguments, then I'd rather get his succinct version of it than have to sift through Breitbart to find it...especially at work.

Despite what some might consider a slightly homoerotic avatar, I'm not really down with gay stuff.
Bsf4l's nightstand: bottle of lotion, tissues, mp3 player with "I just wanna stop" on continuous repeat.

The left-libs thought that they had won the political argument with those who disagree with them. Now, they are frustrated because they realize that they haven't won at all. Indeed, they appear to be losing in a number of areas.
