BBall Recruiting Thread 2k18 - Hoard, Mucius, Lewis, and Wright sign NLIs!

Unless he has shrunk, Danny is 6'10. Sarr looks at least 2" taller.

Unless you have a great chiropractor or no kids, you end up shrinking about 1/2 inch every decade after age 40.

So that puts Danny at about 6 foot 9.5 and this Sarr kid, who I really like at about 6 10.5.

:D

Yes, they do it with college football teams too, just so they can keep tabs on everyone.

It's far less common with basketball.

Buttermaker...some friends of ours (yours and mine) ran into the team Friday night at the Kimpton. Actually shot a few hoops with Collins and Doral!

It is, they stay there the night before games. I was in town for a wedding over the break and they stayed there the whole month when school was out. Pretty cool hotel.

My son has been wanting to go to the radio show there but we haven't made it. Would like to check it out. Just started back listening this season after a long break. The last one we went to was at "The Loop" when Skip was still around.

And here's an update on preferred walk-on, Sunday Okeke.

Just had a thought regarding Okeke. My guess is that Danny has been wanting this addition for a while, and it might explain some of the minutes for TVH. Anyway, it is pretty amazing to get a kid Okeke's size to commit to be a walk on when he could definitely earn a scholly somewhere else. I love the mindset and hope he becomes a great player for us. When you are having young men choose to pay for an education at Wake Forest in order to play for you, then something is going right.

Those pictures make Okeke look like he's incredibly well built for a 17/18 yo. If our S&C coach works with him, he could be outrageous. The reports are he has a great motor. A guy that big with a motor could be useful just pound on opponents a few minutes a game.

He is nothing but a practice player from what I have seen (very little stuff out there). But he is strong. Not ready to play high major basketball at all though. Doesn't mean that in 3 years he won't be ready. I would redshirt him the first year for sure (especially in the slight chance that we have Collins next year).

Kimpton Cardinal is a great hotel in downtown Winston. Stayed there last August for an anniversary. It is the old RJR headquarters that was the model for the Empire State Building. Still has the original marble floors. About 6 floors of hotel rooms and the rest are going to be condos I believe. Katherine's Brasserie is the small boutique restaurant inside.

Had Sunday brunch last Sunday at the Marriott downtown and our women's team was in there for their team breakfast. Also the Pitt women's team stayed there on Saturday night before the game. I would recommend the brunch for anybody in the area on Sunday morning. The chef makes great omelets and waffles!

He's paying his own way. Unless the staff thinks he can earn a scholarship, red-shirting may be a bit moot. I'm not thinking about regular minutes. It would be more like just to throw his body around occasionally. Hustle is contagious. A minute or two from time time.

I agree he does look very raw. Without JC (I think he's gone), we need bodies and some prayers that the light goes on for at least one of Donovan, Doral or Sam.

A redshirt year might be a tough sell with his foster family footing the bill.

Holy crap, I haven't thought about the Loop for like 5 years. Is that place still open?

Not if there is already an agreement that he will get a scholarship after he redshirts.

Wrangor, have you seen any recent tape on Okeke? The most recent I've seen is a short clip from July. Whether he redshirts or not, we know not to expect much until at least his second year in the program. He has the raw potential to be an ACC contributor.
