BBall Recruiting Thread 2k18 - Hoard, Mucius, Lewis, and Wright sign NLIs!

That Ayo kid is legit. Doubt he's coming to Wake. He has a ton of offers.

My only rebuttal to that is why would Manning offer after all those others unless he had some indication that Wake had significant traction? If I'm Danny, I don't start with a new recruit and give an offer this late to somebody with that kind of offer list unless I get some assurances that offering now puts me at least top 5, and probably I hold out for top 3. Otherwise I invest my resources in other recruits.

I thought this yesterday. There has to be a reason to jump in this late with a Top 30-40 guy. Especially with so much noise about staying home and playing for IL.

yeah and it's not like it's an offer at a position of need for 2018. Wright is pretty much a combo and so is Ayo. So a late offer to a kid that has a lot of offers at a position that we're not desperate for. Maybe just a prefunctory offer, but a decent chance staff has indication of interest.

His jumper is pretty weird. More of a push shot. But screw it, I'm BULLISH on this guy because of the name.

I don't judge an athlete because they have an unusual form (see e.g. Ball, Lonzo and Furyk, Jim). Consistency counts for a lot (assuming good results).

Ayo would be our first Chicago Public League player...ever? We did recruit Patrick Beverley, but that was during the "Dino culture" time frame. Ton of talent in CPS.

Any possible "package deal" that we might be trying to take advantage of?

Maybe the new assistant basketball coach has some type of established relationship with the recruit.

According to a headline on Rivals, 2018 PG Drue Drinnon is not far off from a decision. Wake is in a battle with one other school, which if I had to guess based on recent interviews and the fact that the article is by UGASports.com is the Dawgs. That means GT is probably left in the dust, with all 3 schools being mentioned a month ago as recruiting him the hardest. Everything else is premium on the piece

That is a lot of offers to guards for 2018.

Why are we still in on this guy? We signed a PG?

Drinnon is more of a true PG where as Wright is a CG. The fact that Wright might grow more means he could easily play the 2 or 3. Also dominated this weekend on Nike circuit averaging 16.5 PPG and hit a game winning 4 PT play at the buzzer. If you watch Drinnon's highlight tape you'd see he's worth a take

Hopefully he's not done growing either. 6'0" is Wilbekin small.
