Hey lectro....was it LOWF that lost us this one?...

because I thought the team looked much better than last year all around except punting and center play, and kick coverage. Oh and of course coaching.

A lot of players need to look at themselves too. A lot of dumb penalties. You have to wonder about conditioning given how poor the D looked in the 2nd half.

Isn't lectro usually just talking up the players? This loss is on the coaches not the players who I thought did pretty well -Newman, Wulfeck, and G Williams.

He usually HYPES the players, but tells anyone that thinks we will give games away and play too conservatively to compete "LOWF fans" and that we are the reason we lose games.

He bad mouths the fans as much as he hypes up 2* SUPERSTARS

Defense is played on emotion. When the team sees the coaching staff letting off the gas, they follow instinctively. When the staff plays not to lose, so do the players. Once the momentum starts rolling the other way it is difficult to stop. We see this all the time, I am not sure why anyone is completely surprised. 15 points in 8 minutes (in reality we should have lost in regulation) is a lot, but not out of the question. It is just two scores. When you aren't moving the ball and you are playing a soft coverage defense it makes it pretty easy for the other team.

Couldn't have said it better.

How do you know what dented looks like?

Sorry to bring this thread back from the dead. It obviously should have never existed, but I hadnt been on the boards in a couple of days and just noticed that zzzz is apparently stalking me.

Dirk, that was Jim Grobe football. That's not the first time this kind of thing has happened. Heck, he did the same thing in the 1st half.

Yeah, Jim Grobe tripped a wide open Givens...Grobe made Newman miss that field goal...And we all saw Grobe put that banana peel out so Newman slipped on the extra point...And Tonya Harding would be proud the way Grobe hit Price on the knee with that ASP...That's just Jim Grobe football...

All those things happen to even the best teams. The difference is their coaches come up with ways to overcome it.

There are going to be slips and injuries over the course of a game. When you think about the complexities of 11 guys all trying to execute a plan, the major mistakes aren't very frequent considering the general lack of experience.

I do expect the coaching staff to put a plan in place to minimize the potential impact of mistakes (i.e. a good strategy for 4 down territory) and to have contingency plans should problems arise (like a good set of 1st and 20 plays or a gameplan for the backup QB).

I understand that any coaching staff gets a certain amount of credit for a win and blame when they lose...I just don't think we should give too much of either...
