To be fair, RSF's opinion was correct in that most games, it is required. I could have swore about a year ago, we made the determination in C9++ that mafia wasn't required to hit. As toogs correctly explained to me, that with no tracker or watcher, they are dumb to not hit, but at the very least, in this setup, it can create confusion, which could be considered beneficial to the mafia when it comes to fake claiming and whatnot.

I was behind RSF through that whole fight by the way. In a recent game someone suggested mafia doesn't have to hit and the response was strongly against that person.

Damo was going to default auto vote for me no matter what and put zero effort into figure anything out, so I killed him over tic.

Seriously though, on the re-read last night, I didn't ever really see anything that blatantly said JTP was mafia. I think the clincher was that yes, Knight brought attention to JTP on D1, but everyone knew there was no way JTP would ever go there, so it's a good bus play.
 
yeah mafiascum standard is not must-kill. Regardless, this can be cleaned up now for the future. I didn't feel there was any way I could interject without affecting perception of alignments.

Why couldn't we just go after the civs together? I thought it would be obvious if we talked about it in the thread but the way they missed the "I know you're the SK so even though I'm about to die here I'm taking you with me" post maybe it would have worked

you are simply 100% wrong here. Additionally that ruleset is written from the perspective of a league in which mafia doesn't have to kill. "the factional kill" does not infer in anyway that it must be used. "may" infers that it does not have to be.

Definitely reasonable, and I appreciate that you didn't. I don't like to win that way and it was nice to have a MODE that gave no fucks about AA'ing fucksticks on account of angle-shooting. Very clean game. No one got away with shit.

RSF's argument with me regarding the non-hit thing was totally genuine and I understood his perspective. Not angle shooting in the slightest.

This is 100% how I read that role PM from mafiascum. RSF got wordsmithy on me in thread and I knew I would never win that fight so I just kind of shrugged and moved on.

I don't think anyone thinks it was intentional. But it was really stupid. JTP could not engage in that argument without angle shooting and it gave the civs a major advantage.
