CBM: X-Men '97 finale; My Adventures with Superman S2 May 25; The Boys S4 June 13

Oh, one of the previews on my IMAX 3d screen was for an upcoming movie based on comics - Valerian. The visuals were fantastic, and I'm anxious to see it.

Valerian screams suck. Like blatantly suck. Like under 20% on RT suck.

I don't think overreliance on Stark tech was unlike Hogan or Stark at all.

A review called Vulture the Walter White of the MCU. I like it. I would really have liked to see them taken on a flawed hero who went bad like Hank Pym.

There was some speculation that Oscorp would take over Stark Tower. I'd love to see it turn into the Baxter Building.

Given how well they did Vulture, I'd love to see the Sinister Six before Green Goblin. I agree that Mysterio and Kraven would be the most fascinating Spidey villains.

It's the movie Besson wanted to make back in the 90s but couldn't so he made 5th Element instead. If you didn't like that movie, Valerian isn't for you.

I'd cash out the 401k and take a second mortgage if I could find an o/u bet for 20% on RT.

Meh. She's not Mary Jane. I'm sure they've got something good planned. I would have liked to see a model quality redhead Mary Jane but that's not what they're doing. They wanted to do something different.

Sure. But she's not Mary Jane.

? I really like what they did with M.J., but if they had gone the predictable route, Bella Thorne would have been a good choice
and keep in mind pervs, 90% of Bella Thorne google image results are under age pics lol

Keep in mind they made a good decision to put Peter in a science and technology magnet school. Perhaps they felt a meathead jock and a redhead model didn't fit the mold. So they cast a model as a sardonic nerd.

My money is on Scorpion, bigly. Good for Nacho, he's hitting the big-time.

Personally I hope it's about the 3rd, maybe 4th movie before we go full on S6. I'd like to see some quality time with Doc Ock. Hopefully Mysterio shows up, he (and Kraven) are probably the best vills we haven't seen on film yet in Spidey's world.

I think this was the first time I've ever found a movie's portrayal of a villain more interesting than the comics'. I always thought Vulture was lame, he's an old guy with a flight suit and that's pretty much it. Keaton (and writers) made him threatening and relatable, like a Tony Soprano, or Walter White, to stick with the world of BB. The car scene was intense,it was sort of refreshing to see someone figure out the obvious for a change.

On the other hand, I'm going to be patient to see what the explanation is for no Spidey Sense. No Spidey Sense means it's not Spider-Man.

I've got no patience though for my biggest gripe - the brain dead plot convenience of "Let's load up all our most dangerous items into an unmanned jet. What could go wrong?" That's waaay out of character for Hogan, for sure. I'm normally fairly forgiving of plot convenience in a CBM, but this was too egregious.

Also thumbs down for the end of credits PSA. That joke was just done in Deadpool and Deadpool did it better.

Good point, it didn't occur to me in the movie. Maybe in this movie he is a spidey toddler and the next one he will hit spidey puberty.

I'm going to see Spidey on wednesday I think so i'm just popping in on this one comment to ask a question, but in Civil War during the airport scene there is a part where Spidey is chasing Falcon in like a walkway and he swings up onto a beam and then while looking forward at Falcon say "oh god" and looks back just in time to see Cap's shield hurling at him and he's able to dodge it. I think that implies that he's got some sort of spidey sense at least on a basic level. Its in the 1:30-1:45 part of the youtube clip below. I'll stay out of the thread from here on out since i haven't seen it but thought that was an interesting take given what we saw in Civil War.

Yeah. He has enhanced reflexes but there's no "my spider sense is tingling."

I mean the no spider sense doesn't seem like a big deal. Comic wise I'm pretty sure he can jump really far so wouldn't of had to run like a weirdo through the park and also can lift like a 15 tons so wouldn't of had any problem lifting some concrete off himself.

I watched like four minutes of amazing spider-man 2 last night and in the end fight with Electricity Man Foxx he was basically teleporting everywhere. That spiderman seemed unstoppable.

I never saw either of those two movies. Doesn't seem worth it now.

I think it was a golf course. How far can he jump? Like Hulk far?

I never saw ASM2, but the other movies firmly rooted him in Manhattan where web-swinging is easy. It was a nice move to stick him to the boroughs except for the end sequence. It tells a different story about a "friendly neighborhood Spider-man." It also separates him from the Netflix heroes.

So does a Peter Parker getting mentored and bankrolled by Stark need to take photos for the Daily Bugle to pay for web fluid? Marvel may be phasing that whole part of Peter's story out. That would explain why Betty Brant and Ned Leeds were fellow students instead of Bugle employees.

In the comics (at least pre year 2000), Spider-man couldn't jump distances like Hulk. Hulk could jump three miles at a time. Spider-man could leap over streets between buildings at most. They usually got around this outside of Manhattan in the comics either by having him hitch a ride on the top of a van/truck, web a helicopter, or simply not show what the webbing was attached to at all. Seems like Todd MacFarland addressed this issue in one of his Spider-man stories set in the wilderness with Wendigo and Wolverine, but it's been a really long time since I read that.

I watched Spider-man yesterday. I honestly didn't notice the absence of his spidey sense while watching it. I read an article afterward that said the director didn't want to crowd the movie too much and may explore the spidey sense in a sequel.

I liked the movie. The Vulture was extremely well done, much better than the comics version. I also thought they got the high school feel right. The young Aunt May is a big improvement over the comic book version as well.

I thought the picture of his principal's grandfather in the Howling Commandos was a nice Easter Egg.
