CBM: X-Men '97; Deadpool and Wolverine trailer

The only subplot that I was annoyed by them taking their time with was the Cassidy/Denis stuff. There must have been 4-5 scenes showing the exact same thing, and they could have gotten the same point across with any 2 of them.

Agreed. It took them awhile to get to where they are but I like where they are.

Finished Defenders...really enjoyed it. It had plenty of flaws, but it was still perfectly enjoyable. I think I like these characters more than any other MCU characters.

In my perfect world there would be an Infinity War sized crossover that would see DD, Jessica, Cage, Danny, Spider-Man, Punisher, Blade and Ghost Rider all on the same screen. An adaptation of the storyline from a few years ago (believe it was Return of the King) where Fisk takes over the Hand himself would be perfect. If nothing else I want Fisk vs Spidey to happen.

I would be fine with Fisk taking over the Hand.

The production schedules suggest Defenders Season 2 will take place right before or right after Avengers 4. That could mean a side story involving how the Infinity Gauntlet impacts Hell's Kitchen.

Is a second Defenders season confirmed? I haven’t kept up with all the news.

Are there Defenders spoilers in here already? Or are we doing the 2 episodes a week sort of thing?

Spoilers are cool. Two episodes a day and day four was yesterday.

This thread caused me to be unable to see Misty without thinking about how giant her hooters are.

i enjoyed Defenders. I actually didn't think Iron Fist was as bad as some of you guys. The corporate maneuvering was laughable (especially to me as a corporate attorney) and yes, Finn Jones was miscast as Iron Fist. However the character's naivety makes perfect sense in the context of a kid who spent his formative years in an ancient monastery and is now trying to navigate corporate NYC. I liked Iron Fist as a series more than Jessica Jones. I will concede that the casting and acting in JJ was superior to Iron Fist, but the JJ plot with the constant "catch and release" program with Kilgrave was super-frustrating and it was so transparent they were searching for material to get through 13 episodes. My personal ranking of the netflix series is:

DD1
Luke Cage
Defenders/DD2 tied
Iron Fist
JJ

I like making lists like this:

DD1
JJ

Defenders
DD2
Luke Cage

Iron Fist

Luke Cage would be a lot higher if Cottonmouth were the villain for the entire season and it was maybe 2 or 3 episodes higher.

half way through defenders. it's ok so far. sounds like they stick the landing so that's good.

it has been said, and i agree, that the biggest problem with most of these marvel netflix shows is that the seasons are too long for the amount of plot. a lot of filler. 8-10 would probably be about right for most of what we've seen so far.

It's kind of frustrating that everyone has been clamoring for these series to be 8 or 10 instead of 13 episodes long, and now they finally decide to do it once all of the Defenders are together? Just seems, odd. I would have thought if any of them deserved to be 13 episodes long, it would be The Defenders.

get your point but i think it's more about using the number of episodes that you have plot for without too much filler. so far they appear to have been forcing an arbitrary 13 eps rather than using the number of episodes that works for the story that season.

JJ

Defenders
DD2
Luke Cage

Iron Fist

Definitely agree that Cottonmouth was the best/most compelling villain and maybe best actor in the show. The final big bad was a dumb character and a poor actor. Did not like the ridiculous power suit costume for the final battle.

wow, JJ below iron fist?

i just thought it was overall more entertaining. the strength of JJ was the suspense: who is controlled? who's a Kilgrave sleeper? when will they capture Kilgrave? But they kept breaking the suspense, capturing Kilgrave, then doing stupid things that let him get away again, so they had to rebuild the suspense three or four times. Then at the end, JJ just walks up to him and does what she obviously should have done like four other times before.

CBM: Marvel's The Defenders premieres on Friday

But that's because she overcame Kilgrave's hold on her.

My ranking:

DD1
Luke Cage
DD2
JJ

(Gap)

Defenders

(Gap)

Iron Fist

All are still better than most TV dramas.

She couldn't though. That's the point. Kilgrave controlled her without ACTUALLY being able to control her. It's a psychological thriller.

It's all good though.

I think I'd rank it:

JJ/DD1
First 1/3rd of DD2 (before they capture The Punisher)
1st half of Luke Cage
(only halfway through Defenders)
Iron Fist
Last 2/3 of DD2
2nd half of Luke Cage

Some strange things coming out about the DCEU...

1) There will be a stand-alone Joker movie that will not be a part of the DCEU.
2) The Batman may also be a stand-alone film with no Affleck or DCEU ties.
3) Lex Luthor has been completely cut from Justice League.
4) Whedon’s involvement has been more than just post production...there have been extensive reshoots, including a completely different ending.

It’s starting to sound like Warner is on the verge of completely ending the DCEU...or at least re-shaping it. Maybe that’s why they decided the first Flash film (if it ever gets made) will be Flashpoint?
