ACA Running Thread

That's the smoke in all of this. The states can choose is how they attempt to sell it, then cut through the bullshit and while that may be correct in the end the states can't choose to do anything because the money no longer even exists in 10 years.

The federal money won't. States can raise taxes for it if they want to provide that. Of course they won't, because medicare for all sounds great as long as you don't have to pay for it yourself. Guess we'd find out just how liberal those blue states want to be,.

ACA was a gigantic Democratic welfare expansion plan which was conceived not to lower the overall cost of healthcare but to generate millions of new voters for the Democratic Party. It was never fiscally sustainable from day one.....a brilliant political strategy from Obama & the Democrats but a disaster for the country.

Obama & the Democrats knew three things when they concocted & passed ACA:

1) ACA wasn't going to accomplish what it was ostensibly intended to do....lower the cost of healthcare.
2) Fiscally, it was unsustainable. You simply cannot give ten million new people more health coverage at reduced or no cost to them without exploding costs for everyone else.
3) Once all these people got the cheap or free stuff and it became clear that the program was a fiscal disaster, the Republicans would be criticized for trying to correct the fiscal disaster that ACA had become....and was always going to become from the day it began.

No.

The liberal blue states you're referencing contribute more than they receive. Who ultimately gets fucked are the poor people in red states.

Sounds like a Rush Limbaugh talking point

Yeah it's obvious 100 percent of the states will always take federal money related to health care !

Also it's not like the "savings" the federal government takes by not providing the funds isn't going to be spent on some other thing. So the states still provide the same amount and get less back.

We're up to almost double digit senators now who say they don't know what's in the plan but will vote for it anyway - some because they said they promised they would when they ran for reelection. What a group of idiots

Within the bill it says everyone that voted for it must fuck a pig live on tv

The Democrats aren't smart enough for an operation like this. The Pubs I could see coming up with something like this to court voters but certainly not actually help people. They aren't in the business to help anyone but themselves and their donors.

I know for a fact down here in SC, several large donors have already cut off some funding to the Graham war chest due to inactivity on getting anything done on the Hill. Why do you think all of a sudden Lindsey Graham is getting involved in this mess?

I'm pretty sure the precedent has been clearly set on major healthcare bills that we have to vote for it so that we can see what's in it. Thanks, Obama.

Is the idea that obamacare was rapidly passed one of the better misleading right wing talking points. Like every single conservative thinks this is true.

I mean why cop to the truth when you can just lie and blame "fake news" as the real culprit to an increasingly dumb base.

It's amazingly brazen to continue to lie like this. We have the text of the bill, we can see that it's a lie. It's also telling how the news outlets are covering this. The vast majority of media outlets, center and left, are all reporting the facts: that despite what they are telling you, this bill does not protect those with pre-existing conditions from what could be enormous premium increases. But conservative media outlets like the Washington Examiner, Newsmax, and Breitbart are only reporting that Trump and Cassidy are saying that those with pre-existing are protected. They aren't reporting what the bill says, just the word of Trump as gospel. It's not like it's a mystery bill, we literally have the text, and they won't report on that.
