BBall Recruiting Thread 2k18 - Hoard, Mucius, Lewis, and Wright sign NLIs!

Ayo will do just fine staying home and playing in the Big10. He will get plenty of exposure and playing time if he is good enough for the NBA. As has been pointed, he has positioned himself to have multiple good options to choose from. I prefer that he pick Wake and think it is a better situation for college success. However, his ultimate goal is getting to the league. He can do that from either school. Everything else is secondary. I don't fault him if he wants to play closer to home/friends/family. Makes sense.

yep.

Except Ill's roster sucks.

I'm curious what Ayo is hearing from all sides about Crawford. Ayo likely doesn't start if Crawford stays, although he would get plenty of playing time simply replacing Wilbekin in the rotation.

And who exactly is the PG teaching genius on the Illinois staff ?

Ayo just tweeted "ACC or Big 10"... a lot of folks jumping in on the B10. Need some twitter folk to give us some love.

If he wants to start at PG from day 1 and Crawford is still at Wake in 2018, it isn't likely to happen. Would Ayo be OK playing second fiddle to senior B.C.?

Starting at PG still may not happen with Childress around. Assuming no attrition, the rotation already looks like this:

PG Crawford/Childress
SG Key/Brown
SF/PF Melo/Hoard/Mucius
PF/C Moore/SJM/Sarr

If Ayo is as good as he thinks he is (not meaning that snarky) then he won't have a problem starting for our team. There is no way that a potential 1 and done, or 2 and done is sitting on our bench. If he isn't a player of that level, then he will have a great older mentor to help him get to that level. It is pretty naive to think that a guy like BChill (who I love) would keep an NBA first rounder on the pine. That aint gonna happen. I love some BChill, but he isn't going to play in the league. If Ayo is good enough to jump after a year or two he will get that playing time.

Don't forget that Sunday Okeke and Donovan Mitchell are on the roster. I would look for Okeke to be getting some minutes as a big. Always a need for a big body banger from time to time.

One of the Illinois writeups has him starting at the 3 for them...

Seemed like this was an issue in the case of Devoe more than it is for Ayo. He could play any guard position. A year of him and Crawford on the floor together would be absolute fire. And you could still play Chill with them if you wanted. Defending them would be an absolute nightmare.

Things aren't going to go bad. I don't see how anything can change, unless Illinois gets some other commitments between now and Ayo's decision. The situation that exists now is likely the exact same as when he makes his decision, and hopefully he doesn't let the "pressure" to stay "home" (3 hours away) cause him to make the wrong decision.

I guess "things going bad" is a bit extreme, but it is certainly possible that the overall vibe of the visit this weekend doesn't match how they felt at Wake & could ultimately push him to the ACC.

He did just retweet bloggersodear's tweet about why Ayo should come to Wake. Hopefully he also read the article.

By 2018, Danny should be able to play a full chess game. Match any style of play and player that any opponent can put out there. He should be the one dictating matchups that year. Let the others catch up if they can. These last few years he has been playing with very few really good pieces, and the record has shown that.

He will be able to start being able to match up just about any other team this year, if at least two of the bigs show they are ACC level competent players.

I hope the students are excited about the future of the program. We need to get back to the days when the Joel was a place K used to whine about visiting.

That's a REALLY good team, especially if one or more of of Moore/SJM/Sarr becomes the next Collins.
