Official 2017 College football thread

Akers, Dillion, and Etienne are really promising backs in the Atlantic.

Miami is blitzing the option. First possession it worked and they got a 3 and out. Second possession - lost gap control and boom, 48 yard run leads to a GT TD. Why do teams keep doing this? Gambling against the option is like playing Russian Roulette with 2 shot pistol.

Duke fans on their Message board are starting to make the Cutcliffe Jim Grobe at the end of his tenure comparisons

Paul Johnson has Richt's pants around his ankles and is beating his ass raw right now. We'll see what adjustments Miami makes here, but their initial gameplan defensively is just fucking terrible.

GT is gonna beat Miami

Big challenge and opportunity for the Deacs next week.
Glad our D will have 2 weeks to prepare.

I read or heard Clawson say they had a practice or two this past week and gave the team a nice Fall break, and will start preparing for GT on this coming Monday. Seems like we didn't really intend to use two weeks to prepare.

Can't imagine that everyone wasn't at least studying the GT offense.

(I mean real studying......not like UNC 'studies')

If Miami is getting undressed this badly by GT's option, I really don't hold out that much hope for us, playing in Atlanta to boot.

Miami is doing exactly what we were talking about in the other thread - trying to be aggressive and create negative plays. What happens is you lose gap control and just get gutted, and unless you get turnovers you just won't make enough negative plays to overcome the long gains. At this point in his career, I'm amazing people keep trying to do this against Paul Johnson offenses.

Oh I don't know. When I think "two weeks to prepare", I think they'd really be practicing every day for two weeks. If they don't, they're not using the extra time they have. The proof's in the pudding though.

I doubt the coaching staff is taking a Fall Break.

Same here. Which is why I'm happy they got a mid season break.

Our awful kicker just cost us 3 points, and our awful punter cost us 3 earlier in the game with an atrocious line drive punt that Miami returned to FG range. Our special teams are just truly dreadful.
