BBall Recruiting Thread 2k18 - Hoard, Mucius, Lewis, and Wright sign NLIs!

Seriously...Just one single post without a misspelling.

I see the Illini sent their best over here to these RJKarl boards.

Which option is more entertaining

Ayo commits to wake. Illinois meltdown.

Ayo commits to Illinois. Underwood implicated by fbi. Ayo decomits. Illinois meltdown.

In my opinion, the recruitment strategy changes for recruit of Ayo's caliber....The focus is narrowed in on the individual and what the school/facilities, coaches and team can do to help vault them to the next step in their playing career over the next 7-24 months (this is ironically something that has victimized Wake quite a bit in the past). This is why Manning has been able to close ground on UI so quickly.

School/Facilities: - new $36.5M Sutton Sports Performance Center, new $9M Shah Basketball Complex, new $5.4M Sports Medicine & Hydrotherapy Center, a $4M tune up to the Joel, etc.

Coaching - Manning is unique in that he can relate to what Ayo hopes to achieve in college basketball from experience...Natty and the #1 pick #LifeGoals. As a coach, Manning coached 12 NBA draft picks at Kansas - including 8 1st rounders. At Wake, he's already transformed (a former 3 star recruit) John Collins into a 1st round draft pick, a 1st team All ACC player and the ACCs most improved.

Team - Wake is going to be loaded with elite talent next year with or without Ayo....That said, the Deacs would be absolutely nasty with Ayo - fit to go head to head with any team in the country. "Team" extends off the court as well. If he wants to learn what it's like to be a guard in the NBA - we currently have 3 guards (2 NBA all stars) in the league who would be happy to share their experiences with him.

Everyone quote this post and take an computer internet picture of it and but it on Twitter !!!!!!!!!!!

I predict (just my shot in the dark) he knows Wake is the wiser choice and wants to play with Hoard and play on the big stage. But he is feeling all kinds of heat from family and friends and doesn't want to disappoint. Like many have said, if he was 110% Illinois and has been all along, why wait when recruit after recruit after recruit snub Illinois for somewhere else when an Ayo commitment could have/would have swayed at least one kid to join him?

Yep, good post

The former. The latter gives them an excuse. They'd probably promote Chin to head coach to keep Ayo anyway. These are desperate, sad people.

The illinois coaching staff has fewer Chins than a Chinese phonebook.

Look for us to make a move towards maybe Jamie Lewis, Dru Drinnon or others we had been involved with prior to Devoe and Ayo. We still need a PG for 2018

If he chooses IL, I really think the difference will have been uncertainty about whether or not Bryant was going to return. If Bryant was 100% gone, I think we get Ayo. It makes sense that he doesn't want to take the chance of not being a starter.

The only way he might have started is if neither Sam nor Doral become a true starting center. If Bryant returns, our starting line-up next year will be - Bryant, Chaundee, Jaylen, Olivier and Doral. If the light goes on for Doral, that's a very scary starting five.

No, he's not better than Bryant. Our guy will be in the Top 5-10 PGs in the nation this year. You don't put a returning senior who has had a career like Bryant on the bench.

If Bryant returns, Ayo would have gotten 20-25 mpg. Would he be satisfied?

Do you have inside info on this? I can't say that I'll agree with going after guys like Drinnon or Lewis. I just see us moving on to our '19 targets, which includes Anthony Harris.

If Crawford leaves early, then we'll probably just go after a postgrad.

Occams razor, RJ. If he chooses IL, it's probably because his entire family can attend every single game, he's super familiar with the school and program, and the assistant coach is a long time family friend.

Has anyone noticed Ayo doesn’t follow any Illinois coaches on twitter just Wake Coaches. Just throwing it out there .
