BBall Recruiting Thread 2k18 - Hoard, Mucius, Lewis, and Wright sign NLIs!

One last comment re: Ayo then I really need to go back to work. Maybe Ayo was going to Illinois all along and wanted to go on some other visits for the experience and was intrigued by Wake, but never enough to overcome the hometown team. I get that this is a real possibility, and if true, it sucks if this had any effect on our recruitment of Devoe. And now he's trying to build up the suspense by tweeting everything pro-Wake before making the inevitable commitment to UI on the big stage. If this was the case, then I just really don't get why Ayo would wait this long to commit while he watches dozens of UI's targets commit elsewhere and then he decides he wants to troll an entire fanbase and lead on a coaching staff that has a ton of NBA connections. Don't you think Chin Coleman knows the effect landing Ayo will have on getting other commitments and he's probably been in his ear the past year telling him this and to not wait around? I don't know something's just not lining up in all of this. And then he tweets out "If they not with you they against you."

You mean with all of the b&g tinged RT's and likes?

Maybe Ayo is a mutha truckin' maverick and can't wait to get away from the snow and gloomy winters of Illinois!!

Come to Wake Forest Ayo and never hold a shovel again in your life!!

I wouldn't say never, but just enough to make a 2 inch snowman, have it melt by ten AM, but still have your classes cancelled for the day.... Sounds like the perfect winter to me!

Chicago is in Illinois...

Is this real? Jesus, that's trolling.

Odd that Coach Underwood is on Twitter and yet Ayo does not follow him. He DOES follow a number of Wake coaches and/or players. The only follows I can see for Illinois is Mark Smith. Ayo doesn't even follow Illinois basketball main account.

You seem like a prime candidate (based off your stated location) to be at the Jordan Shop rocking a Chris Paul jersey. Maybe he'll see you in the crowd & have a last minute change of heart.
I assume I won't be able to get "in," right? Just hang outside? I'm considering it

Bro you are making A LOT of sense. A LOT. Ultimately its Ayo's call and much of his immediate community could be pulling him toward ILL but he doesn't want to go. The timing of it all does not make sense, you are correct in that. Why join a program that has ZERO commits so far? Yes, why not commit straightaway if its such a done deal?

I mean, he is hitting a button on his phone. I think the bigger issue is with someone taking twitter seriously enough to find whatever a 17/18 year old kid does on his phone regarding his college selection process to be disrespectful. He is a kid hitting a Like button, it isn't like he is posting about Wake being a shitty place to go. It is possible that he really likes both schools, and will continue to like both schools even after he chooses one of them. I chose between Wake and Yale, I don't run around yelling Fuck Yale at every opportunity since I chose not to attend, I still like the school even though I didn't go there.

Guys, I figured it out. Ayo's twitter activity is just setting us up so he can one up Cliff Alexander.

This is a legit point.

He was a Top 3 recruit. Many thought he was the next superstar PF. He went to KU (after Danny) and proved to be no good. He left after his frosh year and got drafted in the second round. He played a few games for the
Blazers and got cut.

Alexander, who was heavily recruited by Michigan State, arrived at Kansas as a consensus top-five recruit. He left as a borderline first-round pick.

"I got dealt a bad deck of cards when I was at Kansas," Alexander said. "It just didn't go as planned, as I planned it."

When asked if he was alluding to the NCAA investigation and time on the sideline, Alexander said no.

"Just overall, everything," Alexander said. "When I was playing, I wasn't very dominant. I didn't live up to my expectations, the way I was supposed to, and then when the suspension came, it just made me go downward."

In addition to freshman growing pains and the investigation, which focused on impermissible benefits given to his mother, Alexander also dealt with some nagging injuries, including a bruised sternum and some back problems. When asked why he only played 17 minutes per game, Alexander answered: "I'm gonna leave that to coach (Bill) Self."
