I hate myself a little for enjoying the effect this is having on LaVar.
Ball, Riley and Hill were released around 4 a.m. Wednesday and were staying at a luxury hotel in Hangzhou along with a UCLA representative, according to a source. They are being required by Hangzhou police to remain at the hotel until the legal process is over, the source said.
Alford rejoined the rest of UCLA's team in Shanghai on Wednesday morning after the players were released. The coach said the three players involved would not play against Georgia Tech and referred to a previous statement released by the school.
...
Asked if he was worried about LiAngelo, LaVar said, "He'll be fine. He'll be fine. Everybody making it a big deal. It ain't that big of a deal."
LaVar later released a statement about the allegations against LiAngelo: "It is a very unfortunate situation that the Ball family and UCLA has to deal with at this particular time. We will comment shortly."

They got released on bail, definitely seems like the Hangzhou Police/Chinese gov't officials are starting to bow to pressure and will end up giving them some symbolic punishment without any actual jail time. Probably a moderate fine and publicizing their stupidity. But they'll be forced to miss at least the one game with possibly more unless the judicial system really expedites the process. Otherwise they'll be in China for a few weeks or so at a minimum.
Then they'll probably face a UCLA punishment as well unless the school chooses to use the Chinese "hotel" house-arrest & those missed games as punishment.

If Trump can bring these kids home on his visit to China it will do wonders for his popularity among shoplifters.

Not only that, but did they not think that the Chinese just MIGHT be paying extra particular attention to the 6' 3', 6' 7" and 6' 10" black guys in their store? Bomani had a good piece on it last night.
