How much does Duke suck? Less than us apparently...

We are a school (revenue sports) that under achieves when we are supposed to be good and are overly satisfied when we over achieve but don't max out the upside for those seasons. I'd also like us to recruit players that 'want it more' on a consistent basis.

Yes we had a better season than expected but that doesn't mean it's ok to piss away a great season in a very winnable game and be ok with it.

You heard it here first, I think Bowers may be a factor next year.

If Hinton is starter next year we will take a step back. Also we won more games than I thought we would but we played awful against app, and pissed away the fsu game, and missed a chance yesterday.

We also looked awesome against Louisville, beat a solid team at BC, beat a ranked NC State team, and had an offensive explosion against Syracuse.

We're going to be very good next year.

I think we can be good next year, but I always fear the QB transition years. We think Hinton is next, but I am not so sure and it may be an open position for some of the season. I don’t remember the last time revolving QBs worked for us.

I really don’t think we will. Hinton has shown he can be good and he is more dangerous runner than Wolford. They may have about the same straightforward speed, but Hinton has more elusiveness. If Hinton is given the full playbook, I think he can be really good. I also think Newman has a lot of potential. Size, arm strength and athleticism are really good, so it will be a matter of his development.

It was a shame John had such a forgettable game to end his career at home with, but the State and Louisville games will overshadow it.

Fixed.

I think it will be a close competition between Bowers, Hinton, and Newman. With the rate at which our QBs get dinged up, all will probably play.

There's no way Bowers beats out Hinton - I feel like you guys are forgetting how good he looked at the beginning of last year. Plus, it will be his 4th year in the program, and he should be (knock on wood) completely healthy.

I agree, I just think he's in the competition. I have no idea what to expect from Newman. But I also don't expect Hinton to get through 12 games healthy the way we'll have him run. I think both Bowers and Newman need to be ready to go.

Clawson has said a few times this year they are likely to move from a Rover to a Nickel CB base defense, so that could impact this depth chart a little. I also expect us to potentially move away from using a TE in our base offense to take advantage of some depth at WR and spreading the field a bit more for Hinton. Hinton & Byrd option offense with Hines and Dortch used more in the run game...

Easier schedule with what should be roughly the same type team (maybe even slightly better - I think people may be underestimating how good Wolford has been for the bulk of the year though) should make for a fun season. Dortch will come in with absolutely massive expectations which can be good or bad.

Crossover games are Pitt (home) and Duke (road). OOC games are @ Tulane, Towson, Rice, and Notre Dame

Oh right. I think Kemp still starts. He'll be the best LB on the roster. Mays looked terrible filling in at times for Dawson against Duke, I think Kemp and Strnad will start, and could See Ja'Sir into the starting lineup in nickel, or Ja'Sir goes outside pushing Henderson into the slot.

And I think we'll run a lot of 4 WR sets which is why I listed 4 WRs. especially since we're very deep at WR. Didn't even list Bauchman, who was easily the best WR against Duke. Obviously Cortez is disinterested and wasn't even listening to the plays against Duke, he's gone. And I love Waydale Jones. He looks like AJ Green on the sideline, hope he can come down with a couple jump balls next year.

Wolford's accuracy is way under rated by our fans. not easily replaced.

Don't forget Sage Surratt too. I've heard Clawson say on the radio, he think he will make a big impact next year. Anybody know if there's a possibility Dionte Austin returns, I thought he looked like he had a lot of potential at corner last year?

You may well be right, but Bowers was the number one rated qb in Pa. and number 21 rated dual threat qb by ESPN.

Hinton shouldn't need to run any more than Wolford now that the O-line has come together and we have some competent backs.

Just worried about replacing 4 of our front 7 on D. The DEs were very good. But Michael Allen is our best recruit hopefully stepping in. The LB change shouldn't impact much. Jaboree was solid, but Dawson was not.

I don't think Hinton is the accurate passer Wolford is. But he's a better runner. I think what he lacks for in accuracy, he'll make up in athletic ability, avoiding sacks, ad lib. And the WR core might be one of the best in the ACC, so hopefully those guys are WIDE open and he doesn't have to be super accurate. If he turns out to be very inaccurate, then more Washington and Waydale Jones and tell them to go get it with their 6'4 frames.
