Can the "keeper clause" be used here?
 
Manning coached two of [Redacted]'s best players as seniors. Collins is way better than any other player either coach had. You can argue Moore and Crawford are better than any [Redacted] players too. Yet he barely has a better record than the worst coach in program history.

This. Manning, Bzz and Staak are the 3 worst coaches in WF history, and Manning is the worst of the worst because Staak and Bzz at least knew the game. DM has had much more talent than Bzzz.
 
My biggest issue with Manning this year is not the won loss record, (really) it is I have seen NO improvement in the fundamentals of the game. Passing still sucks, decision making (especially the last 5 minutes) is atrocious, defense is laughable, players are and play out of control, timeouts are saved like souls at a Billy Graham crusade, and Manning seemingly thinks everything is peachy and refuses to change. He is practicing the quintessential definition of insanity " doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result"

Yep. And that was clear early in the season. The guards didn't improve. They couldn't consistently get the ball who actually did improve.

I really like Wes. Really good coach and seems like a fantastic guy from his postgame interview. Anyone who cares about their players that much will be successful wherever they go. Invest in them and they’ll invest in you.

with our luck we'll fire danny and then wes will go on a magical run leading uncg to the final four and then take some blue blood job when their coach is fired for this FBI investigation and we'll be stuck hiring bobby collins

It is kind of amazing after all the Wes Miller talk that Wake and UNCG would be #90 and #91 in Kenpom, with tonight's win pushing UNCG finally ahead of Wake.

Definitely hard not to like Miller. Then again he still lost to Manning's Wake team this year. That conference is just god-awful.
 
And Wofford beat UNC and GT.

But I agree with the sentiment. Only a truly desperate P5+Big East program would hire a coach directly from such a Mickey Mouse league.

If Wes pulls a tourney upset though, all bets are off
 
Guys.... We can't be goldilocks about our next coach.

Get a young dude with huge upside before he's out of our league

Wake is a good enough job that if you get the ball rolling there aren't too many better jobs in hoops unless the NBA comes calling or a top 5 blue blood comes calling

We can wait on Wes to go the next tier up but if he crushes it there then we likely won't be able to get him

The time is now!

What's the worst that can happen? He only wins three acc road games in four years?
