BBall Recruiting Thread 2k19 - Charles Coleman de-commits to Wake. :(

We need Coron Williams and Austin Arians type transfers. If we lock up 2 guys like them, I'll like our chances going into next season.

Guys who shoot better than anyone Manning's been able to recruit.

Guys who shoot enough to play for a better program.

Arians was recruited by Manning after the team went 11-20 (2-16). Coron Williams was recruited by [Redacted] after the team went 13-18 (6-12). Good shooting grad transfers can certainly be recruited to Wake.

Grad transfers are overrated. WF would've been better (if not this year, definitely in the future) without TT as his absence would've forced Manning to use and develop Mitchell, Chaundee and even Melo more. Unless you get the rare commodity that fills a specific need, grad transfers can hurt more than they help. WF plays in the ACC; very unusual to find a player from mid to low level school that can contribute on this level AND who wants to leave his current school. Unless WF has massive defections (which may happen), don't want grad transfers. Let the youth play and develop.

Wilbekin shot a better percentage on threes on only slightly fewer attempts than Coron Williams. I'm not sure why that would make a big difference.

Although it does look like Coron shot a very high percentage on 2's (61%) that year.

Might have to start selling basketball players on our 3rd Tier law school.

Given the state of the entry level market for attorneys I wouldn't even try to sell prospective law students on our law school. There are some attractive undergrads with loaded Daddies though, maybe we can offer a MR. degree? Fifth wave feminism, you go be a sugar mama and I'll stay home and enjoy my free time.

Dear likely Wake bench recruit: If you come to Wake you will have no pro prospects after riding the bench for a 3rd tier ACC basketball program, but you can still bang a hot basketball groupie and get into some family money. Upward mobility.

If Manning could build a team of nothing but grad transfers, he'd be tempted.

Sure. But they were good enough to play for a better program. We had to beat Wisconsin for Arians.

Excellent point. Since TT didn't contribute, there'd be no drop-off in playing an inexperienced player, who at least has some upside. I.e. Develop them. Should be fairly simple to see and understand that.

I agree, enough with the grad transfers. Most might contribute enough for an extra win or two. But when you only win 11 games who cares. Let the young guys play, see if they develop, at least they might bring a little energy or ex excitement.

Welp, Manning's coming back next year so he might as well get his ass out there and recruit some players for 2019.

Hopefully has has Kenpom bookmarked on his phone so that he can show recruits all of the progress he's made.

Umm, yeah...so, we've dropped to 90. BUT, we are the 6th best team in the state of NC.

Its all in how you present it to the recruit...get them guessing on whether their really are 90 teams better than ours in the country...as long as they question it, we have a shot lol
