CBM: X-Men '97; Deadpool and Wolverine trailer

Hot off the press - Luke Cage S2 June 22.

First 2 eps of JJ are pretty good. They've gone pretty deep into the Marvel bench so far.

Here's a background on movie Thanos from Feige. Read at your own peril, depending on what you consider a spoiler.

Not a fan of this change. I like his comics origin of just being a truly evil mofo that murdered all the other Titans (but his dad and bro)

That’s hilarious.

I have no ill will toward Ava DuVernay whatsoever, but I want to point out that the movie she chose to direct over Black Panther, couldn't come close, even in its initial release weekend, to beating BP's box office (41M-33M) in its 4th week. This even with having the same Disney marketing machine behind "A Wrinkle In Time". I'm sure the BP movie she would have made would have been fine, but I'm very happy at the way things turned out getting Coogler.

Normal spoiler protocols are fine with me for JJ. In the middle of e8 now for me. Someone gets they ass beat good in either 6 or 7, enough to cause literal grimacing. I'm still very much digging this season, it's a pretty cool approach to telling an origin story, so far at least.

WIT seems like this year's Valerian: \movies that looked like bombs as soon as the first trailer dropped

I'm going with "Ready Player One" for that title. I don't if I've ever been so excited for a movie only to have every expectation crushed by such a miserable trailer.

Finished watching Jessica Jones season 2 last night. There were some decent parts but overall the series was pretty boring and rambling. I'd rank it with Iron Fist or slightly below.

----

Also got around to watching the Punisher series. It was decent but not as good as the character was on Daredevil.

I thought JJ season 2 was really bad. The last few Netflix marvel shows have been bad. Seems each Netflix marvel show is becoming more and more untethered from eachother and the marvel universe as a whole. The characters aren’t that intriguing to me on a stand-alone basis

I just finished JJ S2 and I'll be the local contrarian and say that I put it close to the top of the Marvel Netflix shows. As per usual it could be compressed a bit. Still, I dug the villain and the resulting conflict. There's plenty of connective tissue to the established MCU lore, so I'm going to further disagree with the notion of the show being "untethered". I'm certainly a-ok with dispensing with gratuitous "'member the event? 'member?" callbacks anyway.

I just finished Punisher. Overall I liked it. The villain was well done and had realistic motivations. Cinematography was good too.
Obviously it's not "real life" but i had a problem with a violent psycopath like Frank Castle being allowed to just walk free at the end of it. Yeah he was killing "bad guys" but the dude needs more help than the once a week old soldier's support group...

It’s kind of realistic in our current gun culture. You could imagine a Frank Castle actually exuding and getting support.
