Wheeeeeeeeeeee. More advanced stats! Football this time! Wolford for Heisman. 1st round pick! Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!
We're also talking about completely different standards for programs. Wake finishing average among P5 teams in football is a solid accomplishment. Doing so in basketball is OK but nothing to shout about, especially when it's the one good year amongst a load of absolute crap.
Clawson also took off way out from ocean with a boat leaking water, but he has taken us to shore and we're lounging on the beach enjoying the fuck out of ourselves. I await Danny coming close to doing the same

So Clawson meeting far lower expectations in a completely dissimilar sport and situation proves what exactly about Manning?
RC - When the writers get together later this year for ACC press day they vote on a preseason ACC standings. What do you believe Wake Forest will be ranked?
In addition to RC I'm interested to know what everyone else thinks...I say we'll be 11.
Manning did this in his 3rd year.
That I don't want to hear again how horrible and sad and tragic what Danny inherited was and is. If Clawson can turn it around given what he was dealing with, then I cry less than zero tears for what DM walked into
36th isn’t that far off. Especially given there are more teams in college basketball.
Maybe Clawson should go recruit and develop the best player in the conference. Manning should too, since he hasn’t had that either.
And I’d argue that having the best player in the conference at the most important position is pretty helpful
And if we're 3-9 next year, people will question Clawson's credibility.
I don't know how anyone can watch our team this season and think Manning is legitimately doing a good job.

The last 4 years under Grobe we finished (in order of suckitude): 90, 87, 69, 68.
The last 4 years under [Redacted]: 219, 168, 120, 94.
The first 4 years under Clawson: 100, 89, 68, 22.
The first 4 years under Manning: 101, 98, 82, 36.
I used Sports Reference’s SRS for both.
Shit, how could I forget. This season (and the next two) don’t count because Clawson got lucky with Dortch, who everyone knew would be a star from day 1 and for whom Clawson gets no credit and rode him to a mediocre bowl!?!?! Or something.
we won 3 games after losing Dortch for the season, you nincompoop
Clawson posted the best SRS season Wake Forest has had since joining the ACC
Manning's best year ranks #15 on the similar list

You do realize that 15th out of 65 is pretty good. Better than 5 Odom season, 7 Tacy seasons, and even 2 Skip seasons.
Yeah, you're reaching, and I think you know that. There are ~350 teams in the basketball rankings compared to ~125 in the football rankings. If you try to do apples-to-apples by looking just at power conference programs, I think you come out that the 2013-14 basketball season and 2013 football season were relatively similar compared to peers. You definitely come out that the 2017 football season was more impressive than the 2016-17 basketball season. Furthermore, there's the extra color that the football team lost at least its two best players and a 4 year starter at quarterback while the basketball team returned its two best players.
I feel very comfortable stating that the football program was in worse shape than the basketball program and has achieved more anyway.
