Yeah, IIRC he was projected in the 4th round. Well done, Jessie. Can't wait to watch him on Sundays.
 
I think the initial projections we found were a 4th round pick in 2020.

He is recovering from surgery on a torn labrum and can't do any drills or workouts. Really hurting his stock. Scouts are saying he didn't play hard the whole time, which i never saw.

I did a pretty thorough search of NFL draft rankings and couldn't find him anywhere. He got good advice from his agent... and I'm happy for him.
 
I'm sticking with my original prediction of the 3rd round. Right now, KC, SF, Houston and Carolina have two picks in that round.

Easy decision to leave early even if he's a 5th rounder.
 
Happy for Bates. Was arguably the best defensive player on the 2016 team. Without him balling out against Indiana we may not win that game, which means we miss out on a bowl that season, no big win over a ranked Temple team. Hope he comes to Oakland.

Never thought that myself. Always think the student athlete should do what is best for them. Whether it is Abbate, Rodney Rogers, CP3 or Jessie Bates. If it was a computer guru and he could go to Google after soph year for $500,000 per year, he should do that also,

So much this.. exactly the analogy I use as well.
 
Add to that, this isn't a job you can continue doing at 45. You've gotta take the money when it's there.
