BBall Recruiting Thread 2k19 - Charles Coleman de-commits to Wake. :(

Sure, but I don't think more talented players are going to wait around.

Yeah, that's exactly what I said above. I just wonder if the best postgrad transfers will even consider committing if there was a possibility that C&D return.

It’s literally his job to know (and he is compensated very well to do his job), so I certainly hope he at least has an idea about their plans.

Ph is right. We might as well just play with what we have next year if we don’t get a postgrad in the next month or so.

I agree with the first part. I'm ambivalent about the second part: if we find out that C&D are leaving, we should take a hard look at who is left in the market. I do agree that I'd rather DM develop the younger guys rather than getting a TT who won't contribute and will limit our younger player's development.

I'd rather have a team of freshmen and sophomores with pro potential led by a junior PG and high energy role players off the bench than throwing some old live bodies in the mix just because.

I'm just not that worried about replacing Crawford and Moore with grad transfers. I'd rather get a legit talent who can start regardless of position. Absent that, I'd rather get a live body big and a replacement for Woods. We know we need to replace Mitchell and Woods. Just do that.

I can live with a mediocre team built on potential and where young players get time to develop. What I can’t live with is a crappy, perpetually young team that loses underclassmen to transfer while overplaying mediocre grad transfers and walk ons. If we’re going to suck, then I’d prefer to suck the way we used to: which was typically juxtaposed alongside of developing young players.

Yeah. Like the 2007-08 team.

We've actually been looking at Wynn for the better part of a year now. We we're linked to him numerous times in 2017 on the AAU circuit, as were a few of the schools mentioned above. This isn't actually that out of nowhere

We initially saw him scouting Llewellyn, Bacot, and McCormack. McClung was also on that team. His minutes were limited but Team Loaded VA is usually one of the best teams on the Adi Circuit

That’s fine, but I doubt a 2018 prospect originally signed to ECU is much of an ACC prospect. We never offered him and missed on plenty of better guards in the meantime. This just reeks of desperation when you put all of the pieces together.

Oh yeah not arguing that at all. Think he's more of a backup plan to Dixon and Mosely than anything else. The fact the staff seemed to like him last summer before all this chaos to me is a little more comforting than offering a random guy they've never seen who just decommited from ECU that's all I was saying

The staff liked Rich Washington early, too. Not gonna take much from that tweet, though.

Yes, there is probably some correlation between how soon a grad transfer commits and how good they are, but it’s not an exact science.

Some of the really good transfers will take multiple visits, almost like they are being recruited out of high school.

I’d say between now and the end of May is prime transfer season. I wouldn’t panic until then. Of course, by then we’ll know for sure about Crawford & Moore (but I have to believe they’ll keep Manning in the loop).

Danny Manning telling players to GTFO of the program so he can recruit ECU decommits like

"GTFO of our shitty program!"
