Ongoing US GOP Debacle Thread: Seditious Republicans march toward authoritarianism

Just read that Ryan raised $54,000,000 for Pub house races this year which apparently is fairly unprecedented for a Speaker. Not sure if the crazies who want to replace him, especially Mark Meadows, have anything like that kind of pull in traditional Pub donor circles.

So in other words, Republicans greatest ability is just maintaining their own power.

Paul Ryan: Mission accomplished.

Seriously, what the hell has the dude done? I assume he would claim tax cuts. Remember his detailed budgets in the run up to him being the VP candidate? He was focused on reducing the deficit, etc. Then passes the tax cuts that dramatically increased the deficit. Guy is a total effing fraud.

The tax cuts spur economic growth and pay for themselves. Except when they don't, and then you blame entitlements.

What does he do with that money? He can’t keep it can he?

Most of the money was technically raised by his Super PAC, the Congressional Leadership Fund. So I assume it'll still be used in 2018 Congressional races.

Although I guess I shouldn't assume anything with these grifters.

If all these resignations confirm anything, it’s that republicans are terrified of being minorities.

With release of Greitens report looming, Missouri House cancels sessions until Tuesday

A special panel of state representatives is preparing to release a report into Gov. Eric Greitens' conduct at 5 p.m. Wednesday as their investigation continues.

Anticipating backlash, House leaders Wednesday morning canceled session for the remainder of the day as well as Thursday and Monday, allowing state representatives to escape the Capitol before the release of the report.

The report will be made available at the Missouri House website, according to legislative communications staffers.

Greitens admitted in January that he had an affair. He has denied criminal wrongdoing, including the allegation that he broke the law by taking a photograph of the woman without her consent while she was partially naked.

A Trump congressional defender in public...

"I say a lot of shit on TV defending him, even over this. But honestly, I wish the motherf*cker would just go away. We're going to lose the House, lose the Senate, and lose a bunch of states because of him. All his supporters will blame us for what we have or have not done, but he hasn't led. He wakes up in the morning, sh*ts all over Twitter, sh*ts all over us, sh*ts all over his staff, then hits golf balls. F*ck him. Of course, I can't say that in public or I'd get run out of town."

That interview was relatively cathartic for me. I have been dying to hear one Trump supporter say this over the course of the past 18+ months. I wish he had the balls to say all of this publicly but I'll take what I can right now.

Judiciary is stacked with a bunch of people who can win re-election so long as they don't piss off Trump voters in the primary. But if we get to summer and most of the primaries are over, they just might pull the trigger if the President fires Mueller. The sh*t will hit the fan if that happens and I'd vote to impeach him myself. Most of us would, I think. Hell, all the Democrats would and you only need a majority in the House. If we're going to lose because of him, we might as well impeach the motherf**ker. Take him out with us and let Mike [Pence] take over. At least then we could sleep well at night," he said before going off on a tangent about how the situations with Russia and China scare him. Then, "You know having Mike as President would really piss off all the right people, too. They think they hate Trump. Mike is competent," at which point he sighs and laments that there were, in his mind, more than a dozen competent choices in 2016.

After losing the gerrymandering case in the PA court, the state Republicans want to change the constitution:

Pa. House GOP backs plan to give majority more districting power

But this is about more than the case. Currently a five member panel draws the districts, with two members picked by Dems, two picked by Pubs, and one by the PA Supreme Court. The PA Supreme Court has a Dem majority so the GOP wants to change it to a six member panel with the final two spots voted on by the state House and Senate. (And the court ruling only applied to the US Congressional districts, state House and Senate districts are still super gerrymandered.)

I was curious about his pin. Apparently it's about cutting regulations.
