Totally Unofficial 2017/18 Premier League Thread (NWT)

Liverpool are going to sign Nabil Fekir tomorrow. Fabinho, Fekir, and Naby Keita are (on paper) great additions to midfield.

So Coutinho +10 million got us Fabinho, Fekir and Keita. :) Now we just need a Keeper and cover for CB and Forwards.

pretty pretty pretty good

It's not so much that Spurs are re-thinking the wage structure (Spurs have had the 6th highest revenue and paid the 6th highest wages) ... it's that 3 seasons of Champions League football in big stadiums with luxury boxes (2 years in Wembley, 1 year in NWHL next year) just has jumped the revenue astronomically. Spurs bottom line has shot way, way up.

Spending seems to have been a few years behind revenue. Glad Levy et al. have made the decision to keep the squad together while also financing the stadium, which is now projected to run £1bil+. No way Poch was going to stick around through self-imposed austerity, though.

Also, 6th (or so, this isn't quite updated) in wages doesn't tell the entire tale. Spurs have been wayyyy behind the other top clubs in terms of total wage bill and wages for the star players. Kyle Walker's departure is exhibit A. No way we'd be looking forward to another season (or more) of Kane, Dele, Eriksen, Son, Lloris, Vertonghen etc. without blowing it up. Kane was tops at £100k.

"Tottenham's England midfielder Dele Alli, 22, and Danish playmaker Christian Eriksen, 26, are set to follow England striker Harry Kane, 24, by committing their long-term futures to the club."

Damn

Once they are in that stadium they'll be signing some shiny new things.

A few days late to the discussion, but I'm terrified that FOX's EPL coverage is going to blow. NBC was awesome.

Lets see how they handle a Non-US World Cup, that might give us an inclination about what's coming this fall.

I saw this list going around - all the signings United has made since SAF left the club.

Total: £693 Million

Lukaku: £80 million
Matic: £40 million
Lindelof: £32 million
Pogba: £95 million
Mkhitaryan: £40 million
Bailly: £38 million
Zlatan: Free
Martial: £55 million
Depay: £30 milllion
Schniderlin: £30 million
Darmian: £16 million
Romero: Free
Schweinstiger: £8 million
Di Maria: £67 million
Shaw: £30 million
Herrera: £30 million
Rojo: £16 million
Blind: £16 million
Mata: £40 milion
Fellaini: £30 million

That's an amazing list. Has anyone ever blown close to 3/4 of a Billion GBP with less to show for it? You could buy most football clubs in the world for that money, or nearly build a brand new state of the art stadium. And the crazy thing is it really does not matter because Manchester United just fucking prints money ... £700M over a couple of years is just a drop in the bucket for them.

Fantastic idea! For every goal scored by Peru (thanks to my work) or any Spurs player, I'll donate $10 to the LGBT Center of Raleigh!
