"We are extremely disappointed that the administration has frozen payment transfers under the Affordable Care Act's (ACA) risk adjustment program, which is designed to keep costs down for consumers while meeting the medical needs of those requiring significant care," President and CEO Scott Serota said in a statement. "This action will significantly increase 2019 premiums for millions of individuals and small business owners and could result in far fewer health plan choices. It will undermine Americans' access to affordable coverage, particularly those who need medical care the most."
Is this how we make America great again?
The stopping of risk transfer payments BETWEEN insurers is pretty indefensible. This is a part of the law. Its literally $ being exchange between insurers based on the health of their respective pools, ie insurers with sicker pools get checks from insurers with healthier pools. Its aimed at eliminating selection impacts and scaring away insurers. Now some prices will go up and some prices will go down but the larger issue is the payer disruption it will cause. Very bad policy. In fact its not even policy. Its just plain stupid and will create a big market distortion. I could easily see lawsuits coming here.
There has been a lot of hoopla over some of the stuff Trump has done on the ACA that I think have been a bit overly dramatic (the shortening of the open enrollment season, cutting funding for advertising). This one though is a big 'effing deal.
It's all about undoing Obamacare. Doesn't matter how or who gets hurt. Because Obamacare was bad, mmmmkay?
How to make healthcare and health insurance better? Who gives a fuck. Just undo Obamacare.
[Republican health care policy 101].
Very healthy society we have, tying health care to private employment
Certainly nothing coercive about your employer having control over the survival of your family. A very fair agreement between two parties on equal bargaining terms.
Yes, it’s a big problem that needs to be remedied.
lolI mean, you just have to makes sure you put the right word in the brackets

Agreed. This is why health insurance should be like home, life, auto insurance and separate from employment. Of course they're linked today due to government interference - so, yay government!
