That’s not even close to what you said.

And I didn’t miss it when it happened. I just understood that Obama was making a basic statement that any politician has more flexibility after an election than during an election. That’s not controversial in the least. Your response and that of the GOP was the rhetorical equivalent of an old white lady clutching her purse when a black guy flinches in an elevator.

It is not controversial to say "dear Mr Putin, while I am still an electable official I need to lie to my electorate in order to make it seem like I am being tough on foreign policy. After I am no longer electable and thus don't need voters anymore I will work with you to do what in my opinion the people who vote for me don't want"?
 
Also it is MORE controversial because it was that foreign policy that led directly to Crimea, Syria, and the DNC hack.

Yes, Obama should have done something about the "red line", but Trump has cut the bombing and other attacks on Assad. That's why the Syrian rebels have lost the war they were winning while Obama was POTUS.

BTW, what did Trump do when Russian mercenaries attacked US Special Forces in Syria? Hint, the answer is nothing. Trump never even mentioned it or called Putin out on it.

Just once, it would be nice if you got something right.

Russian pro-gun activist linked to NRA charged with spying in US for Moscow


A Washington-based pro-gun activist affiliated with the National Rifle Association (NRA) has been charged with spying in the US for Russia.

Maria Butina was charged with conspiracy to act as an agent of the Russian federation within the US without prior notification to the attorney general.

Butina, 29, was arrested on Sunday and appeared before a magistrate in Washington on Monday, according to the US justice department.

She is known as a protege of Alexander Torshin, a Russian former state banker, who met Donald Trump Jr for dinner at the NRA’s 2016 convention. Torshin was placed under sanction by the US in April this year.

A Justice Department press release said Butina had been “developing relationships with US persons and infiltrating organizations having influence in American politics, for the purpose of advancing the interests of the Russian federation.”
