21. CAROLINA PANTHERS
PROJECTED STARTING LINEUP:
Left Tackle: Matt Kalil, 50.8 overall grade
Left Guard: Jeremiah Sirles, 45.2
Center: Ryan Kalil, 46.6
Right Guard: Trai Turner, 76.7
Right Tackle: Daryl Williams, 86.5

2017 season-end rank: 10th (-11)

The loss of Norwell is going to hurt. While the backup plan currently looks like some combination of Jeremiah Sirles (45.2 overall grade in 2017) or Amini Silatolu (40.5), it will be interesting to see if they kick Taylor Moton into guard eventually. He was one of the highest-graded guards in the country as a junior for Western Michigan before switching to tackle as a senior. Moton was also one of PFF’s favorite offensive linemen in last year’s draft yet saw only 70 snaps as a rookie.

So what's the whole midfield controversy?

Is there anything to it beyond just putting a Panthers logo?

What you mean? I think it's simply fans want a Panther logo and not the NFL shield.

Yeah. See the edit. I didn't know if there something else to it. Like Tepper wanted to put brass balls at midfield like the Gillette Stadium razor.

It seems like a issue that isn't worth all the talk. Clearly Tepper is going to do some things differently.

I think it's just a smart move by him. Fans have been wanting the team logo at midfield for years instead of the NFL shield, but JR was always going to be an NFL-first guy. This move, which probably took less than a second to think about, will generate some goodwill for Tepper out of the gate. Obviously not a huge deal like the actual product on the field itself, but it's a good, fan-friendly decision.

That field is still worn down from Nick Chubb running all over it (269 yards) in the Belk Bowl three years ago against Louisville.

Barnwell tends to go against teams if their performance level the past season was lower than their actual record. The Panthers were 7-2 (7-1 in regular season) in one-score games, so no surprise he's down on us this year

Panthers one of six teams expected to win fewer games this year

Carolina seems to be good in odd years; mediocre in even years.

Cam is entering the season completely healthy, and has had a normal off season for the first time since the 2015 season. When that happens good things happen. I think Donte Jackson steps up big as our DB2 and puts together an incredible rookie campaign, while cam out runs questionable line issues. 12-4.

Heard on Panther talk that Chud was a Norv Turner disciple, so the learning curve this year should not be steep.

Donte Jackson has apparently been killing it. Defs need someone to step up for that position.
