NFL Offseason Thread: 2018 NFL Draft

Saquon Barkley signed his rookie deal with the Giants. It is over $30 million for four years. The unusual aspect is that it is fully guaranteed. Over $20 million is in signing bonuses he will get this year. $15 million now and the rest in October. "Take the money and run."

Most 1st round pick contracts have been fully guaranteed over the past few years (at least the first 4 years and signing bonuses, beyond that may not be if it extends further). I think Cam's was fully guaranteed when he came out in 2011. The Giants have guaranteed all of their first round picks' contracts going back to before ODB.

GUARANTEES
Though the CBA drastically reduced pay for top rookies, agents have extracted a measure of redemption with guarantees. Most first-round contracts are fully guaranteed for all four years. Second-round contracts are usually guaranteed for the first two years, although late in the round it appears only the first year is fully guaranteed, with a partial guarantee in 2018. Below the second round, only the signing bonus is guaranteed.

Josh Gordon is not at training camp so he can take care of his mental health issues.

Seringe signed with the Panthers.

He was in the Jets camp earlier this year but I haven't seen any updates since then.

I'm surprised some team didn't want Wolford as an accurate camp arm, if nothing else. Better evaluation of receivers (and DB's) if receivers are getting balls they can reach to catch.

Chargers Chargering. All-Pro CB Verrett looks to be out for the year

Julio Reports. Riiise Up.

Vikings shipped out all their 2017 QBs, then signed Kirk Cousins and UFA Peter Pujals. A team in that kind of situation is the kind of place I thought Wolford might have gotten a look.

They also traded for Siemian to be their primary back-up.

Watching a little of the HOF game -- there's really no way for a safety to make a hit on a receiver coming down the middle any more with the new rule.

This is a penalty now, lol.

Sounds good to me. Basically every big hit results in a concussion.

Is every HOF game between two teams of HOF inductees? Have I just missed that all these years?

On a play like that, it's impossible for the safety to not lower his head in any way, which is the new rule. It's gonna be a disaster. Hopefully the refs just really enforce it in the preseason to try to set guidelines and are more lenient come regular season.

I think it’s been at least one team with inductees for a good while. I went up for Montana’s induction in 2000 and the HOF game that year was 49ers v. Patriots. There were no Patriot inductees that year.

Soccer JUST added Video Replay of decisions, and only those that impact possible goals.

THE FUTURE IS HERE AND IT IS NAMED FUTBOL
