Gilliam got abused a few times, but the pressure came mostly when BC could pin their ears back and rush b/c we had to pass.

The OL is fine - not superhuman, but fine.

Biggest problem is that the safeties are making the wrong reads or our schemes intentionally gives safety preference to run support leaving our corners on an island. Our corners have the physical tools, but technique and field awareness is poor.

I agree. It almost seems like the DBs are confused.

If you'd actually listen to the coach's comments rather than popping off like an uninformed asshole, you'd understand he's about to take the redshirt off of several players and is going to address the issue personally.

Amen. We've had coaches who blew smoke up our asses. We've had coaches who just blamed the players. We've had coaches who joked their way around tough questions. I appreciate Clawson's straight up approach. If the fans are worried about something, Clawson is losing sleep over it. If the fans are angry about something, Clawson is pissed off.
 
I realize it’s mainly BudatWake but are others really blaming that loss on our offense? We had over 500 yards of total offense. Two backs rushed for over 100 yards each. The offense wasn’t the problem.

Great weather. Good crowd (hill was full, West stands 90% full, good student turnout).

The defense gave up way too many 3rd and long conversions and explosive plays. Their shortest touchdown was a 27 yard pass. That’s what lost the game for us.
 
I do not know what contractual obligations we have to our DC, but I think his seat is very hot. I would think that he could be demoted immediately even if he cannot be fired apart from a significant pay-out. Clawson seemed really hot about the D.

Finally a coach who feels and shares our pain!!

Possibly the 1st game in NCAA history where a team scored 40+ points and never had a single red zone snap. The closest BC offensive play the WF goal line was a 2nd quarter snap on the WF 27.
 
Read what I wrote. Yes the OL did not perform up to hype. They almost got Hartman killed. But I said we did not tackle well and the defensive secondary performed like high school. They cost us the game

The biggest complaint with the offense for me was pass protection and not finishing in the red zone, but we played well enough on that to win on offense. To rush for as many yards as we did against BC’s physical front was pretty impressive.

The secondary stinks except for Bassey. I guess though when you have to move a pretty good WR like Chuck Wade to safety you know you’ve got problems though. Also we didn’t get enough pressed up front and that really exposed the secondary. I think if Jesse Bates was back there at least 2 of their scores don’t happen.

One thing about Clawson, he may or may not get it fixed, but he’s going to work his ass off to trying.
