BBall Recruiting Thread 2k19 - Charles Coleman de-commits to Wake. :(

Lots of John Collins in Jackson-Davis' game. Should be an easier sell than most bigs ... no excuses.
 
Some really nice looking prospects. Hopefully our staff has a great weekend. Starting out with a few of those, would make a huge difference in reviving some confidence in our staff on the recruiting trail.

Beating out Indiana for TJD would be the greatest Wake basketball recruiting achievement since . . .?

Hoard and CP3 were local. Aminu was higher ranked but we landed him early and didn’t have to beat out a home state blue blood program. We didn’t have steep competition for Tim but I suppose even finding him counts as an achievement in itself. How highly rated was Rodney? And were Duke/Chapel Hill after him?

EVERY "expert" has TJD going to Indiana. It's been that way for months. Plus, his dad is beloved in the state. It would be a miracle to get him.

RC- Rodney was about #7/8.

I thought he was pretty highly rated but didn’t realize it was that high. Did he choose Wake over Duke/UNC or were they not interested (wasn’t he from Durham)?

And I should have been more explicit. The article I linked to says TJD cancelled his visit and is no longer considering Wake. So it really would be a miracle at this point.


Though he has been around the programs at Indiana and Michigan State more than the others, he said he had not had much of a chance to get around campus at either school. The official visits will allow him to get a better feel for both schools. He cancelled a potential official visit to Wake Forest this weekend and is no longer considering the Demon Deacons.

He would have been a tough get even if we won 25 last year. A top 20 player whose dad is beloved in his home state of Indiana, who likes his local university is a long shot. Would have loved to have him though. Need to lock in Massoud, and hopefully stay involved with Harris. That would make a great start.
 
Welp looks like Massoud, Harris, and Jones are the last hope. Otherwise expect us to land some graduate transfer from New Jersey Institute of Technology who just wants a free Wake degree before going to play professionally in New Zealand.

I thought RoRo was even higher? And either Duke or UNC (or both) wanted him but kind of backed off due to questions as to whether he would qualify. We remained loyal and were awarded when he did qualify.

Did Samuel and Moore already commit somewhere? Is Slazinski not visiting anymore? Did Cole Anthony cut us from his final list?

I’m assuming our insiders knew TJD was going to cancel his visit days ago so maybe they can drop some scoops on those guys too.

Fwiw, I'd written four days ago the TJD's visit was very much a question mark and was likely to not happen.
 
It sounds to me it could be an academic issue. He cancelled his visit and removed us from his list either means that or someone on the staff royally pissed him off, I am betting the former

Or that in his heart of hearts he knew he was never coming here and didn't wanna waste everyone's (but mostly his) time.
