2020 Democratic Presidential Nominees

How do you feel about the SuperSonics?

Yeah now I remember he fucked that up, but I guess also talking about his personal stances on things. Apparently he’s a greedy OWG but I guess he was always sort of portrayed as progressive at least as far as billionaires go?

Basically. He seems to be taking a lot of shots at Dems for someone who wants to attract them. I’m happy if he wants to take on Trump.

It'll be interesting to see what happens, if anything, to Starbucks' stock through all this. I've always thought they did an insane job of being a huge chain that still some how convinces people they're some mom and pop shop. I guess the simplest answer is that people are just hypocrites.

He seems to think that people view him as the SJW that right-wing media has been trying to portray him as. Only right wingers believe that.

Aside from plenty of other issues, I'm not sure people have a great grasp of how much money $10 billion is.

Or even a billion for that matter. If you're under 31 years old and you were given $1 for every second you've been alive, you still wouldn't have one billion dollars.

Underlying point is that this is an obscene amount of money and even with substantial marginal taxes these people are going to be fine.

Schultz has donated only 2.5% of his net worth to charity since 1999 - which again shows one of my major problems with "let the individuals give to charity instead of pay taxes" mantra. Most people aren't Bill and Melinda Gates.

everyone's so salty around here. if you weren't lazy you could be as rich as shultz. i think i still have the HBS starbucks case study somewhere to prove it

Very much of the philanthropic work done by the ultra rich is politically skewed and aimed to buttress their deregulatory, anti-government efforts. The Gates Foundation is no different - in no way should anyone ever equate Bill Gates charity with economic redistribution.

Also, its all big fucking tax write off.

Gates has given billions to people around the world in need. He has created schools where there were none. Their donations for healthcare has saved ten of thousands or more lives.

Tell the kids who went to school for the first that's Gates is about getting right off and ask them if they care.

Ask the people who have clean water if they care if Gates got a tax write off.

Ask thousands upon thousands of families whose loved ones are alive because of Gates' generosity if they give a rat's ass if he got tax write off.

Your demand for absolute purity is no different than irrational RWers who demand the same.

Why would Americans living in the richest country in world history ever depend on Bill Gates to give them a school, water, or healthcare? Why is Bill Gates ability to "innovate" dependent upon a world where people need his blessed benevolence to survive? It's ludicrous, and you're an idiot for licking his boots. It's not Bill Gates's responsibility to determine which Americans deserve the basic dignity of survival. Philanthropy is not economic redistribution, get that through your head, dummy.
