backing the conversation train up:
-we bought in a sellers market with relatively little headache. We looked at three houses. Put an offer on one house; were the 'back up.' Rescinded this offer to put an offer on the third house we looked at. Got that house for asking price. Everyone else can balk all they want, but it was 100% the sappy letter I wrote that gave us the edge over the other contender. We feel very fortunate, though, because I definitely have friends who've put offers on 8-10 homes and basically just gave up the hunt for a little while.
-adoption: Agreed the process is totally whacked, but the purpose makes it worth it.
-the sorbet looks delicious. I bet it would be good with some cantaloupe in there as well. So far we've only made mint chocolate chip ice cream in our maker, but it was delicious. About time to make some more; the thing is read to go in the freezer.
 
About to make another offer in a multiple offer situation time to hop right back on this emotional roller coaster

My wife is a 1099 employee who took four months of maternity leave so we are qualifying solely on my income.

She has to write multiple letters saying that I have “access” to our joint checking account despite the fact that a) my paycheck is the sole funding source of that account* and b) by law the exact definition of a joint checking account means I have 100 percent access.

*My wife’s check goes towards debt, savings, and daycare.

Townie, you 35 or older? I may know a less dramatic way to get a nice house in DC. You can't repaint it and the current occupant is a dick. But it comes with all kinds of perks.

My coworker and his wife wanted tomadobt after faed rounds of IVF. I offered to carry fheir last embryo for them but the wife was uncomfortable with it. They decided to adopt. They had to do all this studff and hve these little books printed that advertised them as parents. I burned some sage ans asked the universe to get them a baby. 4 days later someone backed out of an adoption, the back up backed out and my coworker and his wofe for a baby. I don’t know of the sage helped but I do know they were told this never happens and “someone was looking out for you two”.

AnywY, my coworker loves his stupid kid now.

I'm looking at my bank account knowing my landlord hasn't deposited my last two rent checks (last and this month's) and I'm not really rich, but I still feel rich cuz it's there right now and want to spend money on bullshit things like dranks and food. It is illogical. But it is my brain. WTF.
 
It’s pretty incredible how much sports board posters read into things.
 
But it's exciting timez! New AD! (Probably) New Basketball! New Basketball! Really hoping for Thad, but it's just a pipe dream, I'm sure.
