Possible Wake Forest Coaching Candidates Analysis

Yes I'm very familiar where he came from and his background (living in the Boston area). I also don't want to hire him at Wake - he's about to get fired from Penn State.

He also has experience at a big time school as an assistant and is about to get fired from a P6 conference!

And, similar to Odom, I would take Shaka, Oats, Forbes, Miller, Musselman, Turner all above Chambers when he was at BU.

I'm confident our fan base has proven that the joel will look a lot like this year if manning stays. Hope springs eternal for a fans that have eaten the steaming pile of shit ronnie has been shoveling since he hired [Redacted].

I was resigned to the belief that wake would end up with a lesser tiered candidate that might have a chance at succeeding down the road (nothing could be worse... amiright?)

After ronnie was pushed out i thought things were looking up and our tier might be a little higher.

If manning is back... how many total players have had their college careers ruined by ronnie and a handful of enablers?

But you can't cherry pick. Odom's resume is as strong as Miller's...if not more considering that he has more coaching experience at the P6 level. Yet his argument started when you contended it wasn't even close and I'm gathering this is primarily based on KP rankings. So I'm left confused. Either KP is legit correlation to coaching ability or it's not.

It's not a direct correlation but it's a meaningful statistic. Odom's resume is plainly not as strong as Miller's from a head coach perspective. Again, Miller is getting some national attention and has been mentioned for VPI as well. Nobody is talking about Odom going anywhere except a mid major (from his current low major) except for a handful of fans on here.
 
Why do some people insist on being so dumb. No metric, including kenpom and w/l's among others, is 100% predictive of how a team or coach will do. Its all data to be ingested and reviewed. You use everything at your disposal to try and make an informed decision. That why ronnie is nearly done. He's a "gut man." He takes a tiny subset of data ( like his friend at AF beating wake in one game) and goes all in. He then double and tripples down while being an asshole about it.

Some of you should... take note. Don't be like ronnie.
 
What if the plan all along was to keep Manning and hold of on announcing Wellman’s retirement until it was announced that Manning would be back? Then Currie could take over without being attached to the stink. But someone leaked to put pressure on to fire Manning.

There may be some truth to ph's theory.

ronnie and hatch should be forced to take out a pay day loan (at those rates) to pay back manning's buy out. F U ronnie and the hatch you rode in on.

So AE is low major and SoCon mid? Ok, but what does that have to do with picking the next great coach?

And I beg to differ about who has a stronger resume. Miller has 7 years of HC experience and no P6 assistant experience. He has finished first 2 of 7 years with one NCAA appearance and zero wins. Zero wins v. Top 25. Odom has 4 years of HC experience plus 1 year as an interim in the A10 and 7 years as a Power 6 assistant. He has no 1st place finishes so far in 4 years but has the same one appearance in 3 less seasons and an NCAA win. He has actually beaten a Top 25 team. Wes took over a struggling program for sure and should be commended. Still, Odom took over a much bigger disaster...the previous 7 seasons they won 4, 5, 4, 8, 9, 4, 7. Odom has won 19, 25, 21. They just seem so similar to me. Neither is clearly better...other than KP rankings.

Someone with a supposed connection in the AD posted something about how the leak only preceded the the planned announcement by a day or two. Don’t remember who posted it or know if it’s true, but I do remember reading that somewhere on here.

That scenario would make it look like Wellman was forced out due to keeping DM. No way Ronnie would go for that.

Any scenario would look like that because Manning is probably the worst coach he’s hired. The current scenario looks like that.
 
If Currie took the job knowing Manning is his BB coach, well then, I’m over him.
 
I think people really underestimate how dumb Ron Wellman really is. This whole Mens Bball thing is a complete disaster.
 
Yes i mean the last 9 years, and i know for a fact that if it wasnt for some big donors stepping up then Wellman and Manning would be here for 2-3 years.
