CBM: X-Men '97; Deadpool and Wolverine trailer

As in we are going to see him starring in several films. They aren’t going to just tease him over several movies to set him up for a big team up.

Fair enough, there is nobody, NOBODY of any significance, in Marvel that hasn't had a dust up with Dr. Doom.

Just to set expectations for when the X-verse gets integrated (tl;dr - no time soon).

Note, however, he doesn't say the same for the FF centric properties.

Finally saw Endgame last night. A few notes:

- a lot of the comedy didn't work for me. might have been that i saw it in a small theater with 38 other people that have probably already seen it but there were crickets after a lot of the jokes (especially the Hulk ones)
- time travel is super lazy but they handled it as well as you can.
- the emotional beats really worked for me. i think the thor/thor's mom one was excellent.
- final battle was awesome. easily the best action sequence in the marvel universe for me.
- what is up with anthony mackie's beard?? it is covering like 60% of the face that beards are supposed to cover. it's too small for a beard and too big for a chinstrap.

wife was sick but i had put it off for so long that i just went without her. i told her i'll go with her again but maybe just get dinner and meet her in the seats like 75 minutes in.

Netflix resurrected Lucifer and the new season is available now.

So did we know Chameleon and J. Jonah Jameson are in Far From Home?

Also could this multiverse allow Sony to bring Holland into their spider verse?

Finally saw End Game last night. They had every reason to fail in ending that run. How did they pull that off? We’ve seen so many trilogies fail to finish strong.

I’m optimistic for Phase 2, but it’s more than likely that we never see an event movie like this again, just like GoT might be the end of appointment television. Media consumption is changing, and it’s naive to think that we are still flocking to theaters like this a decade from now.

I liked the emotional bookend of Clint losing his family with Tony’s family losing him. Maybe I’m just more aware of it since my son is only 7 months old, but they really focused on dads a lot. Lang lost time with his family, Clint lost his family then got them back, and Tony’s family lost him. They really touched on all the feels of the dads in the audience which is surely a massive section of the MCU fan base.

Loved when the calvary arrived. That was pretty damn epic, and it seems pretty apparent that Sam leads the Avengers going forward.

When Cap wields the Hammer, I thought for a split second it was Loki, and I honestly think it would have been cooler if it was.

Overall, it wasn’t the best MCU film. It’s probably firmly in the Top 5, but it was an exceptional end of a long journey. Feige, Favreau, and RDJ deserve all the credit they get.

So what everyone’s top 5 now?

Mine are BP, TWS, CW, IW, and EG in no particular order with IM1 very very close.

1. Infinity War

Gap

2. Thor: Ragnarok

Bigger gap

3-4 (flip a coin between CA:WS, Iron Man)

5. GotG V1

Not quite sure. Gut reaction:

Black Panther
Ragnarok
Avengers
Infinity War
End Game

Avengers probably doesn’t deserve to be there on its own merits, but then first viewing of the Battle of NY in the theater holds a soft spot in my heart.

A few weeks from now, End Game might fall off the list. Most of the standalone films don’t make my list simply because of the scope of the team ups. I love so many of those but the scale is just not the same.

Next 5 out are probably Guardians V1, Ant Man, First Avenger, Civil War, and Winter Soldier in no order.

My wife and I were having this discussion just the other day. I think mine ended up being:

1) Endgame
2) Guardians of the Galaxy
3) Black Panther
4) Infinity War
5) Iron Man

There are really no wrong answers. Except for The Incredible Hulk and they fixed that issue.

I also saw it last night and I was underwhelmed.

I think the audience kind of ruined it because I think cheering and clapping during movies is stupid.

Definitely agree that as a new father, the opening scene and the Lang scene definitely got me. I want to see it again but will probably wait u til I can watch in the comfort of my home.

Was Norton the problem? That movie was just a mess all around. I’m not sure Norton was the problem. I love what Ruffalo has done for the character, and I’m not sure Norton was the problem. Hulk just doesn’t fit well in the real world early stages of the MCU.

Yeah. Keep in mind it came out the same summer as Iron Man so they were filmed at the same time. They didn’t have the success of IM to build from yet.

And Hulk was probably the most popular (or at least known) Marvel character at the time. It was a savvy move in hindsight, but I see why they moved on from Norton. Downey and Norton are leading actors. I’m not sure Norton would work as comic relief, at least to the same extent as Ruffalo.

And there was just a Hulk movie a few years before.

No. Ang Lee’s Hulk was a stand-alone. More in the vein of Blade, Daredevil, and Elektra than anything we’ve seen since.

I know Nick Nolte played Banner’s dad. Maybe something about him experimenting on Banner as a kid. I do remember he turned into Absorbing Man and that was the climatic battle.
