2019 NBA Draft Thread: Hoard playing for Blazers in Summer League

That jab felt entirely unnecessary.

Hoard was just featured in a 10-minute short on The Athletic, The Dream Factory, featured alongside Jordan Bone (from Tennessee, drafted 57th) and Kris Wilkes (from UCLA, undrafted).

It's an interesting watch if you're a subscriber. Hoard says, flat-out, that he expects to be drafted in the first round. Whoops.

Him and Doral must have had the same guy giving them feedback.

Danny Manning and Randolph Childress?

Manning says he thought both those guys should've come back, but he also told Melo Eggleston right before the season if he didn't want to be here he could just leave. Manning seems like he doesn't fight to keep players playing for him. Not that they want to. I'm sure Hoard and Doral saying they believed they were going to be 1st round picks is really a cover for the truth of I just didn't want to play at Wake Forest for that loser Danny Manning anymore.

I know what he says, but it’s pretty damning that our players don’t seem to respect Manning enough to take his advice. His whole tenure is damning, but dude was supposed to have an edge in terms of preparing players for the league.

You can fault Manning for offering Melo in the first place, but I don't fault Manning for letting Melo walk. Would rather have the (potentially fruitless) chance of recruiting somebody with more potential. Melo showed nothing in his year at Wake, and doesn't even seem to be in-line to start this year at an Arkansas State team that finished last year 13-19.

Codi Miller McIntyre had 10 assists (most of any NBA Summer Leaguer yesterday), 10 rebounds and 7 points (was a 3 pointer away from a triple double) for the Lakers against the Warriors in a Vegas Summer League game last night. Good for CMM!

I wonder how many assist/rebound double-doubles there have been in the NBA over the last few years.

Four top players. Only one guard. Interesting.

Hoard with 9 and 6 in 28 min off the bench. Haven't seen him play yet, but he's doing something with the minutes he's getting.

Celtics summer league team is stacked. Williams, Fall and Edwards all doing work.

Also a blast watching Grayson Allen getting a tech and 2 flagrants then getting tossed.

Is that really all that impressive in 28 minutes against a team of mostly undrafted guys?

He’s an undrafted guy. And he’s doing better than other ones.

Agreed. He’s putting up solid numbers in the summer league. So is CMM - third in the league in assists.
