Syracuse Game Time 12:30 pm, RSN

Imagine being so dumb you can’t understand being pissed about finishing 1-3 to end a promising season. Low expectation fans are the worst. Keep giving money for mediocrity.

It’s not low expectations. It’s a fundamental understanding of D1 athletics and competition in general. But don’t let lacking the slightest understanding of what you’re talking about stop you from posting ad nauseam about it. God knows it never has before.

Wait, being upset about finishing 1-3 is disallowed by the elite? Makes sense.

Rafi, mako, and Angus are here to explain that you’re a bad fan for expecting our football program to come out prepared and play smart, high energy football every week which results in winning games they’re favored to win.

ATS, the 2006 team did pretty well with injuries outside of QB and RB.

Ok, real talk I still think I’m right on this, but the fact that Rafi and Brad are in my corner is making me take a real hard look at my position.

Clemson in 2006 was one of the most painful losses I can remember, we were laying down a beating on them. We were prepared to play then it all fell apart quickly.

We do have a hump to get over, but the 'cuse and 'ville games showed the character of our current program. To get to the next level you pull these games out but at the same time I can't say it made the season a failure or disappointing.

And let's keep quoting 1-3 finish when one of those games was 100% unwinnable.

People need to vent but some of this is a little over the top. Today we overcame a poor first half, got to the point where we could have won the game, made the right play but the defender made a better one (interesting thought is that the correct move for him was to hit the ground immediately as if he had fumbled etc and we picked up the ball the game would not be over, which is why losing by 9 is so odd).

Here’s the deal. We weren’t a doormat. We finished with 8 wins. Not bad for wake. We have a couple of players who are special when they’re not hurt. We beat some terrible teams. Got cock punched by the one good team we played. And lost to two mediocre teams (at best) and a terrible team. Clawson exceeded historical WF expectations and didn’t do anything to actually impress a program who could steal him away from us. So pretty much a huge LOWF win.

1) we can disagree on stuff without it meaning that I think you’re a bad fan. The only person calling out other fans on here is angus. The other two people you named are just disagreeing.

2) I do think it’s actually unreasonable to expect high energy every week. It’s pretty hard to maintain that level of emotion week after week. They should be smart and well prepared, but I think expecting that passion and emotion every week is not realistic.

We played like shit today. Stop.

No excuse. I don’t give a fuck about anythng else. When it comes time to play - play. Cuse sucks. We are better. We sucked. The players should be pissed that they laid suck an egg. Again no excuse.

Jamie Newman was out of his mind. No idea whats up there. Then jones has a money balled ripped away from him like a little bitch. So yes sage makes that play but Jones is on scholarship too.

Arm tackling bullshit, throws not even close. Penalties.

Plus the offense has ZERO imagination. As I said in an earlier post wouldn’t be nice for wake to run play where everyone says, gee didn’t see that coming.

Agreed. All three bowl elegible teams were favorites today and all three lost.

I think it shows that our margin of error is slim. It’s not the easiest thing to do to get 18-22 year old kids to do that week in and week out, but that is what we have to do to win. Even though Cuse had a disappointing year and we were favored, let’s be honest, we aren’t so much better we can roll our helmets out there and win. I’d love for us to have so much talent we could beat 50 percent of the teams on our schedule just by that alone, but we don’t. This year we had 2 teams on our schedule that we could do that against, Elon and Rice. The rest required us to play hard and well to win and we slipped up a couple of times and just got beat a couple of times (VPI and Clemson).

Lots of shit to complain about today, but our offense did roll up 572 yards today. So even if they saw it coming they couldn’t stop it.

Still don't believe what I saw to end the game in OT.

Literally, we had defeat snatched from the jaws of victory. :(

We definitely have a slim margin of error. That's what we need the coaching staff to overcome. But I'd say that's true for most of the ACC. We could easily be Cuse next year.

I’m just tired of losing in ways that make you go, that was a very Wake Forestesque way to lose. Lack of respect from officials vs Louisville, crazy fumble today.

Getting beat straight up by VT I’m actually ok with, as that’s the part of college football you just accept as long as it doesn’t happen weekly. But the other stuff wears on me.

Of course I know I’m wearing blinders, because we could have been on the other end of the State fumble in the goal line, the missed Memphis FG, etc.

People that are mad, are mad because the final 4 games were really bad compared to the first 8. VT stomped us, Clemson stomped us, Duke exposed our special teams and had 2 kickoff return TDs that made what should have been a blowout win close, and we just lost by 9 to a shitty Syracuse team that had nothing to play for. Terrible way to end the season. A Clemson stomping is expected, and losing to VT ok. Letting Duke's special teams look like all-Americans and then Syracuse win with a half-empty stadium and a backup QB...that makes this season look more like good luck and scheduling then progress.

Losing Scotty, Sage, and Justin are big losses, but you can't let 3 guys be what your whole team's success hinges on.

There were no wins over any Power 5 teams that had a winning season. Wake almost lost to Utah St, BC, UNC and FSU. This team could have easily lost those games and had a 4 - 8 season. It shows just how small Wake's margin of error is to succeed.

Yeah, the reality is if you're a mediocre team you end up in a lot of close games where "flukey" calls or plays can determine the game. We were an above average team at the beginning of the year that won those coin flips, lost some players, and became a team that didnt.

Small margin of error to succeed is coded language for the team really isn't that good and needs to have some luck to win games/have winning seasons. Good teams don't have small margins of error because they blow bad teams out and win games on their schedule that they are supposed to win.

Yep, since 2016 Wake is 13-5 in games decided by 7 or fewer points (I included today even though it was 9 points in the end).
