KP Report - Wooden Legacy Tourney - Arizona 9 pm Sunday ESPN (all times Eastern)

I probably missed the discussion on the suspensions, but the behavior of the team is a reflection of the poor coaching and discipline. Huge embarrassment. The less Childress touches the ball the better. He can be a nice player if he does not shoot every shot. Really disappointed that more can't be done with the team, but until Manning has the balls to take the ball out of Brandon's hand, will not scrape out the one or two more wins left on the schedule.

Manning must now account for his poor leadership of the program which allows situations like the Disneyland one to fester. Manning fails these players time and again. I hope this isn’t swept under the rug. Fire him for cause.

Bad culture. Fireable offense apparently.

The game was not as close as the score might indicate. The Deacs played well the first ten minutes. Hitting shots helps. After that Arizona took control and never let go. I can't fault the energy displayed by the team and their defense has improved. It's not good but it is better.

Sarr is playing well. If he continues to play this well the team will be more competitive. Brown's performance was solid despite lingering physical limitations. Massoud's offense is good enough to put him in the game for the final minute when the team needs points. He played 4 of the preceding 39 minutes while the team was shooting 32%. This is typical of Manning.

I feel bad for the players. They all have limitations but they show effort, energy and they haven't quit. The coaching leaves a lot to be desired and the latitude given Brandon is obvious and unwarranted. Those of you concerned that the team might improve enough to retain Manning need not be concerned. It seems to be a matter of time before this team reacts like those that preceded them.

Which hasn’t led to his firing, which is why we’re concerned. But good write up otherwise.

Only got to see the last 6 minutes. I think Childress took 6-8 shots and maybe hit one. Didn't see a single post up. Overall, he took 31% of the shots and made 21% of the made shots. Only a coach's son could get that kind of leeway.

The bench (in reality two starters) shot 50% from the field (10-20) and the starters shot 23% (9-39).

Great post

This board gets it, but Manning has been given a complete pass by the media on how the disciplinary and turnover (personnel) problems have decimated this program during his tenure. The hypocrisy of what supposedly led to Dino's firing with player behavior in comparison with DM's tenure is a joke. The attention has constantly been on Wake's abysmal results and Manning's questionable acumen as a coach, but the real problems have been lack of leadership, player turnover, and character issues with the people Manning recruits.

Also a key member of his staff murdered a drunk kid.

Childress chucking it with 4 - 18. Doesn't"t he play point guard?

To me Brandon looks like a little kid wanting to impress his Daddy, by going “Daddy look at me I can take over a game just like you used to,” but he never does.

This is the best defensive team of the Manning era (not sure DM deserves to have an "era"), but the offense is limited and directionless. White is not as good of a shooter as hoped. Torry Johnson has heart, but is not capable of playing offense at a high level. Childress' best role would be as an instant offense guy off the bench, but he just is not geared to get other guys shots (such a stark difference between how Childress and Mannion ran their respective offenses). Sarr has improved offensively, but is still limited. Chaundee is coming off an injury, but is solid. Massoud is a scorer. Boggles my mind that WF doesn't get him in the game when WF is having trouble scoring. Ody is high energy and is more talented than expected, but has no offensive game (11 shots in 8 games). Mucius is streaky, but far from a dependable scorer. He is not as good at getting his own shot as he thinks he is.

KP has WF going 13-17 and 7-13 in the ACC which seems about right. Through 8 games, WF has played 2 teams in the top 100. Over the next 22, WF plays 21 teams in the top 100.

What I heard is that only one person "supposedly" heard a negative comment while several others there heard absolutely nothing offensive. I am starting to smell a rat

Anaheim Trip Summary:

2 wins, 1 loss

Victories over #147 Charleston & #278 Long Beach State
Loss to #19 Arizona

Improved in KP from #90 to #86 (#69 offense, #103 defense)

1 alleged homophobic slur, some line-cutting, and 2 suspensions

I'd say, all things considered, it was a pretty successful trip.

VaTech has built a better team in one season than Danny has managed in his six. A new coach can make a big difference if you pick the right one.

Just posted by Les. Pretty pathetic.
