2020 Democratic Presidential Nominees

Your sweet dig on this message definitely has the same effect as a few days of canvassing or phone banking next Fall!

Fuck are you even talking about? If you canvas or phone bank for Biden or Pete when they get the nomination, then you'll have something to talk about.

I do it regardless of the candidate. I do it every two years. I have done it since 2004. It’s how I understand my civic duty and whatnot. I take it you don’t?

Do you accuse everyone you disagree of loving Trump?

On the other hand here's another Pete guy (note Pete says he doesn't accept fossil fuel money next to the donate button on his site):

Hamilton James—executive vice chairman of Blackstone, the world’s largest private equity firm

James hosted a Buttigieg fundraiser at his home on June 13, drawing finance industry support. James is a longtime Democratic donor who The New York Times described in 2016 as “one of the leading Wall Street contenders for an economic policy post in a future Clinton administration.”

Blackstone are significant investors in the fossil fuel industry, and while large donations from their executives don’t technically violate the No Fossil Fuel Money pledge, signed by Buttigieg and other presidential candidates, their firms are active drivers of the current boom in U.S. fossil fuel production. For example, read this about their credit division:

I sure hope you don’t drive an internal combustion engine. If so, I don’t think I could vote for anyone you support.

Show me where I said Townie supported Trump. The only people I've said supported Trump are Republicans who voted for him or clearly are lying when they said they didn't, and anyone who stayed home or voted third party.

I have volunteered and I donate, not that it's any of your fucking business and, yes, we all get that you do it because you can't stop telling everyone. Congratulations - we are all impressed. But I'm not asking about whether you are doing it this year, I'm asking whether you will do it for Pete or Biden.

I once spent volunteer time stamping the "paid for by..." message on a stack of signs.

Better than phone banking, though.

One idea for charitable giving:

I’ll do it for whoever has a D next to their name next fall. You?

So sensitive, Shoo. So sensitive.

Just calling it like I see it. And I only see you posting about Pete, music, or tv show seasons and other Pit stuff (all of which I enjoy other than the Pete obsession stuff)

Good luck with the Resistance, Shoo!

I take metro, but you’ve missed the point.

Did you see the natural gas leak in Ohio? Larger single event emission than the output of entire industrial output of a mid sized country in a given year. Financing that industry is killing our planet, plain and simple. Blood money. Pete shouldn’t take it, his own climate plans notwithstanding.

What's the point, then?
People buying gas is what finances that industry. If nobody buys gas, there isn't an industry. To clarify, you don't own a car? Everybody that buys guys shares in the responsibility of any gas/oil leak.

What a cool gotcha. Yes I have a car. Don’t really drive much, as I said, I take metro to work.

I’ve said it before but you all should really read Naomi Klein. It’s not down to plastic straws and auto emissions anymore.

A long-time marxist non-scientist who's found that climate change alarmism is a good avenue to peddle her Marxist worldview in books?

Aren't the people who are supplying the demand also participating in society? You aren't really just arguing improving society you're claiming that the world is going to end and we need radical change yet it's not significant enough for you to give up your internal combustion car.

Oh cool Chris is a climate denier too, what a treat. Klein has lots of excellent climate science reporting in her book.

As for my own virtues aligning with how I live my life, I do my level best. I’m a wage slave like everyone else on here that isn’t a 1%er. To quote Klein, the world is on fire and the arsonists are in charge. Bolsonaro is going to burn or log the entire Brazilian rainforest. Environmentally conscious lifestyle choices like veganisn or sustainable goods are a necessary but entirely insufficient solution. Our own interstate system is a giant handout to oil companies, Amazon, and car companies. Until we have a politician willing to take on the seriousness of this challenge we’re all headed off the climate cliff together.

I’ll donate my car tomorrow if you and three of your accountant friends at your firm go canvass and phone bank for Bernie on weekends for a month. Deal?

Not a climate denier. I'm not surprised her marxist solutions to everything and her round peg in square hole conclusions resonate with you.

Can you say more about that citing anything from her book? Have you read it? I do find the climate justice argument compelling; my guess is you just favor market-based solutions?

Ugh I’ve been a bummer lately. Let’s do something good. Anybody got a cool charity they support? How do you guys usually divide up your giving?

Some of ours are
