PLEASE CURRIE!!!!

I have a frat brother who is a former AD at a school and has worked athletics his whole life who has maintained from the start that no one wanted the Wake job after Dino’s demise and that NR was the only option. I have fought against believing this for a long time and am no fan of RW but I have come to believe this to be true. I would regard him as a very solid source

It's the simplest answer. The real question is why could no one inside WF realized this was the case. You have to give RW credit, he must be a great politician.

From the time Wellman fired Gaudio until the time he left his position as AD, Ron did nothing but devalue and destroy the men's basketball program. His final action was to retain a coach who had consecutive 20 loss seasons and was beginning a six year $18 million contract that he initiated and finalized. He is gone. There is a new AD. Hopefully the constraints of that contract can be mitigated and the new AD can initiate a complete overhaul of the basketball program.

Don’t forget about Wellman insisting that whoever replaced Dino had to retain all the assistant coaches. That would shrink the candidate pool real quick.

By his own admission, Wellman did not know much about basketball, and yet he meddled in the program considerably. We have the result, and no, it's not competitive, historically or otherwise.

But the main problem is that HATCH FUCKED SHAKA !!!!

It is mind-boggling that Wellman was permitted to make another basketball hire after the debacle that was the Dino-firing and [Redacted] tenure.

And please don't give us this BS about WFU and Danny Manning not bending their knee to one and done talent. They went out of their way and would have killed to get Harry Giles in school with Brandon Childress. We all know it and most of us approved it.

And [Redacted] tried to recruit Quincy Miller.

I think that is part of the answer. Hiring BZ within 3 days also shows that he was pretty close to the top of the list.

Hatch probably is close to as responsible as Wellman and he is still at Wake.

And now Wellman is gone. Start fresh this offseason and bring back success.

Wellman smart he had hired SHAKA until Hatch FUCKED SHAKA. Will HATCH fuck SHAKA and CURRY this time?

Several of us has shown how we get to $5.5M/year WITHOUT asking for "single penny" from donors.

Here's how we get to $5.5M WITHOUT asking donors. We have 17-18 home games/year. Let's say 17. If we average slightly more than 11.000 paid tickets/game that equals 190.000 people. All we need to is raise $29 or so from each of them.

Do you really think people would complain about raising ticket prices $29 if its means getting SHAKA?

How about up $20 for tickets, $4 for parking and consessions up $4?

What is SAD and HILARIOUS is you guys act like we are MAXIIMIZING revenues currently and will be pay $7.5M/year???

The monthly salary for Manning has to be part of Wake AD budgets through the end of his contract. What we don't know is whether there is any lump sum due upon firing. That could be a cash flow crunch for Wake.

Presumably Currie has factored the salary for a new coach into his budget beginning in March.

I don't think money is the main issue. We have lost millions the last 5+ years with a bad product. There are multiple ways to get the money for the buyout. I just don't think this is as the barrier, as shocking as the buyout number was.

Again, One Billion Dollars of free money. There has never been a cash flow crunch for Wake and never will be, especially with regard to what was once the most prominent national face of the University.

You should talk to some of the veteran development folks about 2008 - 2010.

Manning stays and I resign from WFU hoops. Time to pull for a school that actually gives a shit about basketball.
