2020 Democratic Presidential Primary

I feel kinda bad about it, but I was the texter on behalf of a few campaigns in 2018 -- Abrams, Tony Evers, a few close house races in California

it was actually kinda fun, though I recognize it's generally annoying

I am curious the return on investment for that mode of outreach, though -- our list was mostly likely voters, so it was more GOTV than candidate persuasion, though some people did seem to be genuinely curious about the candidates

I am just hoping the Bloomberg campaign texts me

do you text on a phone or is there some program you use when contacting voters?

Did y’all use Hustle for those campaigns? It’s probably the easiest way to engage (and fun), but I doubt it matters too much. Level of discourse is pretty solid when folks engage tho.

how many of you have received campaign texts yet? if so, from which candidates?

I've only gotten them from Bernie so far, but tons of people around me have been getting Bloomberg texts

Bernie and Warren, IIRC.

No texts yet, just a ton of Bloomberg TV and radio ads. I'm in VA, but I have a PA phone number.

Received a Bloomberg text Saturday morning. I'm a VA resident with a MD number. Text came from Jo at 704-286-1052. Feel free to let her know whether you'll support Mike!

Hi I'm Sara from Mike Bloomberg's campaign. With so much at stake, Americans deserve a Democratic candidate who can beat Donald Trump. Will you support Mike?

Simple message that appeals to the top priority of a broad range of Dem voters.

I’ve only received a text from Bernie but there’s a ton of Bloomberg commercials here in GA. I really hate that texting has become a thing, I got at least 30 texts in the days leading up to the house runoff with John Ossoff

my point is less about my specific circumstance than the fact that the voting rolls wouldn't have phone numbers for anybody in the places where I've been registered

It would seem Bloomberg has some issues. The farmer thing that dropped is out of context, but context is irrelevant to rubes and bernie bros. Also, Bloomberg was a republican that endorsed W. That is pretty much disqualifying in my view. I do like that he is surrounded by enormous piles of money, however.

RE: Jitterbug- I was a token white guy at a black dance club. But that was in the 80s and the jitterbug was dead by then.

It's generally optional and the piece of voter registration info that's most often wrong.

It also may differ on a state by state basis. I can tell you I canvassed over the weekend and the data included phone numbers.
