Manning Buyout Negotiations Have Begun

This thread title has become a huge tease.

Steve Forbes should be our next basketball coach without question.

Let's say you pay Forbes 1.5M a year. We'd probably need to average an extra 3-4K per game and that would be paid for. So Forbes and 8k fans a game makes more financial sense than "just" paying Manning and having 4k fans a game. We start averaging 10k or more a game, and it's a much better deal.

Are you considering potential lapses in health care coverage??

As a Prof and PhD candidate in Hebrew Bible and the Ancient Near East I regret to inform you that, despite your WASP upbringing and brainwashing, there is no commandment or law regarding anything about cursing. “Taking the Lord’s name in vain” refers to swearing a false oath which is not relevant in the modern world.

Maybe, just maybe, he thought he would ask for a little respect and politeness from the board community. But... nah !

When people get offended by things that they interpret incorrectly that’s on them. No one is being rude to anyone by saying “Christ.” Boomers say millennials are “too PC” about things yet they are the ones that complain about crap like this.

The funniest thing about is, I'm not a millennial nor a christian.
Dixie's point is 100% on the nose; no one in today's society bitches more about "everyone today is so rude, corse, complaining, entitled, etc," than Boomers.
All the while, ignoring that THEY did more to upend those "mores" and set Society on the path towards today than THEM.
Boomers catch hell online because they're such hypocrites online. /steps off soapbox

I'm obviously from the same general period. I could do without the off-subject banter and occasional snarkiness but have come to understand that folks considerably younger than I have somewhat different ways of communicating and might express themselves in ways that used to make me cringe. I've adapted to the new normal - perhaps my already thick skin has further evolved, or simply my understanding that our generation is no longer the leading force of determining society's norms.

IMO, the older generations' duty is to pass on our knowledge and offer guidance but otherwise, get out of the way.

good stuff

Here's how the "negotiations" probably went.
Currie, "We would like to negotia..."
Danny's agent, "He expects the contract terms to be met."

Either Currie has the millions or he doesn't. If he does, I think Danny's gone next week.

Grade 7 sauce.

Oh what I would do for BabyDeac to show up and go "Tick tock" right now.

Sorry Mebanedeac, I wish people could be a little more respectful even if they disagree with your requests. I come on here to get info and most of the time it’s just smartass answers and people looking to be the first to jump on someone. And I know I choose to view this forum and probably shouldn’t

This is exactly how I feel as well. I used to check this board much more than now. That’s because it has become a contest of who can have the snarkiest reply.
And here we have a fellow Deac who simply made a request that isn’t disrespectful to anyone and all he gets in return is garbage. I’m guessing if anyone made a request that is meaningful to you, you would, at the very least, appreciate no crap from family members.
Maybe my expectations of the Deacon family is unrealistic at this point.

Got some Newsweek writers up in here

It's all just a product of internet discussions.

If you are disrespectful in person, there is a reasonable chance that you will pay a real price for that so most people chose not to.

There is a better chance that DM learns to coach than this changes.

He's staying isn't he? We're going to have to endure another year of Danny Manning getting paid $3M to fail miserably aren't we? Another year of hoping we don't luck out and make the tournament, prolonging the mess even longer?

There’s much more reliable information on him being gone than getting another season. I wouldn’t start freaking out yet.

Is there? We have one national source saying that negotiations have started. We have local sources, closer to the program, both press and here on the board, who say they are stalled and/or never really got off the ground. There's been no more smoke, at all, since this thread was started. I'm not confident he's gone, not after last year.

Yeah if they don't shit can him by Monday or Tuesday of next week that's when I'll start to really worry. Hopefully we pull the trigger the day after our unceremonious exit from the ACCT. With the ACCT in Greensboro this year it makes it easier for Currie to pop back into the office to handle the firing, but what do I know.
