This is the shit that makes the boards almost unreadable. So much conjecture based on quarter truths and rumors. I’m not sure what’s going on right now, but the situation at UT for Currie was as RJ describes.

That tweet by Manning Friday evening stating that he can't wait to get back into the gym with his guys next year, is about as close of an announcement that you are going to get.

As far as the AD is concerned, there's no reason to make a big public spectacle out of business just going to continue as usual.
 
They set the expectation last year to have a press conference for retaining a spectacularly unsuccessful coach. After another spectacularly unsuccessful last place season in one of the worst ACCs in a while with a veteran team (by manning standards anyway), it’s not unreasonable to expect one again.

What does he gain from making a big public announcement that Danny Manning is staying?

"Hey guys we tried to work out a deal, but we weren't able to make anything work out financially. So I guess he's still your coach. Looking forward to continue to improve and have a great season in 2020-2021. Go Deacs!"

Okay. So, with that reasoning in mind, Boston College will also soon make a public announcement as to whether or not they will retain Jim Christian. Because they have to let people know that they are not going to fire an employee. Even if he is a poorly performing one.

Extremely likely, yes. I’m not familiar with the Boston College media though. Clemson made the announcement early on because they knew they weren’t moving on.

Conor/Les noted on here that there will be an interview session with Currie once Manning's situation is firm one way or the other. If nothing is released before the interview, the interview will serve as public announcement.

I've been given the same assurance as Les. We're going to hear from Currie one way or the other.

Also, the Boston College comparison ... really? Have you ever tried to find some in-depth coverage of BC? God bless the AJ Black dude. There's no media coverage of BC. It's one of what, 35 colleges in a pro sports town. Why should anybody at BC have to explain bringing back Jim Christian, if that's what they're doing?
